The purpose of the observation by this office was to evaluate the structural condition of the residence and to determine if a bearing member was inside a soffit. SOFFIT REMOVAL Based on the visual observation of the roof system, there were indications of the roof system clear spanning the soffit and bearing on the exterior wall. Confirmation of the bearing can could not be made until demolition of the sheathing around the soffit. It is the opinion of this office that the soffit may be removed without affecting the roof structure. This office should be contacted again at the time of construction to further evaluate the structure once the framing has been exposed. Please contact this office if you require further assi ance.
