Installation of roof sheathing (new or overlay) requires an approved inspection prior to installation of ANY roof coverings and is require on the entire roof when spaced or board sheathing with ANY gap exceeding one half inch exists. Asphalt shingles are required to be fastened to the roof deck with a minimum of 6 nails per shingle. Ice and water shield is required. Eave and rake metal is required. A ladder extending 3 feet above the roof eave and secured in place is required to be provided for all roof inspections. Roof ventilation is required to comply with applicable codes and/or manufacturer installation instructions, whichever is more stringent. In order to pass a final inspection of elastomeric or similar type roof coverings, a letter of inspection and approval from the manufacturer technical representative stating that "the application of the roof at (project address) has been applied in accordance with the installation instruction for (roof material brand name) roof covering" is required to be on site at the time of final inspection. Dear Mr. Odean: As requested we observed the excavation for the subject lot on September 25 and 26, 1996. The proposed house will have a basement. At the time of our visit the excavation had been dug to a depth of 1 to 3 feet at the garage level and up to 7 feet deep at the basement level. At the time of our visit the footings had been cast. The soils exposed in the upper level consisted of stiff dark brown clay. The soils in the lower level consisted of moist, medium stiff, brown clay. Tire ruts were noted in the bottom. The exposed soils were similar to those described in our report. A shallow auger hole was made below the bottom of the lower excavation and a clayey sand was encountered. In our opinion the lower level should be founded on Type 4 spread footings designed for a maximum soil pressure of 2500 psf and a minimum dead load pressure of 800 psf. The upper level should be on a Type 1 foundation. The other recommendations in our report 296 131, dated August 8, also should be observed. If you have any questions, please call.
