PO Box 1063 Breckenridge, CO 80424 Sincerely, RE: Foundation Inspections for Residential Addition at 3520 Owens Street, Wheat Ridge, Colorado Dear Lee: I performed inspections at the above referenced site to observe the excavation, location of forming, installation of steel reinforcement, anchor bolts and hold downs for the footings and foundation walls. The site is relatively flat and soils are similar to those described in the soils report. Some changes were made to the plans, primarily to the layout at the southeast corner, and updated plans will be provided. The footings are nominally 16" wide by 8" in depth. The bottom of the exterior perimeter footings was a minimum of 36 inches below grade and deeper. The interior footings were placed at acceptable depths as shown on the plans. Horizontal and vertical reinforcing steel was placed in the specified quantity and location per the plans with changes at the southeast corner. The 8 inch thick foundation walls were properly formed and reinforcing steel rebar placed in location and quantities as shown on the plans. Hold downs and anchor bolts were placed in accordance with the plans with some changes at the southeast corner. The footings and foundation walls were connected to the existing foundation with steel rebar dowels as shown on the plans. Based on these observations, I find that the concrete footings and foundation walls are acceptable and in substantial compliance with the approved plans with some revisions. (FEI) conducted a limited asbestos inspection of suspect asbestos materials that will be impacted by a planned demolition of the garage at the residence located at 3520 Owen Street, in Wheatridge, Colorado. The limited inspection was conducted on October 12, 2010. Mr. Derek D'Avignon, an asbestos inspector certified by the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment, conducted the limited asbestos inspection. Aerobiology Laboratory, an independent laboratory accredited by the National Voluntary Accreditation Program (NVLAP) and the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) analyzed the samples utilizing Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM). A limited bulk sampling of suspect insulation, wall plaster and roofing materials from the garage was conducted to identify any Asbestos Containing Material (ACM) that will be impacted by a planned demolition of the garage. An ACM is defined by the EPA as a material with an asbestos content of greater than one percent (I%) by volume. Only the garage was inspected for ACM. FEI did not inspect outside of the proposed scope of work. No materials sampled for this project were found to contain asbestos.
