The notices state the following; 1. Fle7cible copper gas line underground enters through cement floors. 2. Gas leaking through control valves, gas leaking at pilot adjustment and oven pilots. These issues will need to be conected by a licensed plumber registered with the City of Wheat Ridge. Please note that item number one listed above is a violation that cannot be corrected by repairing the existing copper gas line. Copper is no longer permitted to be used as gas piping to carry natural gas due to the conosive effect natural gas has on copper. The Uniform Plumbing Code states; Section 1210.1-- "Al[pipe used for the insta[ladon, extension, alteration or repair ofanygas line shall be standard weight wrouglit iron or steel (galvanized or black) or yellow brass (containing not more than seventy-five (75) percent copper). " Section 1211.3 -"Na gas pipiy:g sha11 be instal[ed in or on the ground under any building or structure and a[l exposed gas piping sha[I be kept at least six (6) inches above grade or srructure. " Due to being notified by Public Service Company regarding gas leaks we must require that all copper gas lines installed at the above referenced address and all addresses that aze part of the same building be replaced to meet the requirements stated above. Due to the life safety issue related to leaking gas lines we must require that all copper be removed, replaced and inspected by Seatember 14, 1998.
