The perforated underdrain was surrounded with gravel, the drain and gravel was underlain with a plastic membrane and was overlain with lapped roofing paper. The top of the gravel was 48 to 59 inches below the top of the foundation wall. A sump was located in the southwest corner of the soudiern area of the lower lpvel and was about 30 inches deep. The invert of the pipe entering the sump was about 67 inches below the top of tlie foundation wall. At the time of our observation the samp was dry.
