The perforated underdrain was surrounded with gravel, the drain and gravel was underlain with a plastic membrane and was overlain with lapped roofing paper. The top of the gravel was 48 to 58 inches below the top of the foundation wall. A sump was located in the northeast corner of the lower level and was about 31 inches deep. The invert of the pipe entering the sump was about 70 inches below the top of the foundation wall. At the time of our observation there was approximately 31 inches of water in the sump, probably due to the previous heavy rains. The water should be removed from the sump and water should be removed from the footing area. The drain appeared to be installed substantially in accordance with our recommendations.
