Effective December 1, 2014, asphalt shingle installations require an approved midroof inspection, conducted when 25-75 percent of the roof covering is installed, prior to final approval. A ladder extending 3 feet above the roof eave and secured in place is required to be provided for all roof inspections. November 4, 2003 Seyfer Automotive Floor Drain 4501 Harlan Street, 303-422-5261 ph 303-422-2864 fx Darin: As discussed with you briefly this afternoon, I learned today that the owner of Seyfer Automotive at 4501 Harlan Street has recently complained about a floor drain line that has backed up and is not draining. Here is what I have learned in my last hour of researchl discussions on this issue: 1. After speaking with Don Seyfer this afternoon, he advised me that the floor drain in question was used to collect coolant, oil, and other liquids from his automotive shop prior to entering a 'sand trap'. 2. The property owner has recently had two (2) plumbers out to research the problem. They have determined that his floor drain line enters the sand trap and currently dead- ends beneath his driveway to Harlan Street. 3. I have re-reviewed the 18" RCP underground pipe video of the storm drainage piping that was performed before the pipe was removed during the Harlan Street Phase II construction project. In front of Seyfer Automotive near the Harlan St. driveway, we originally saw evidence of a crusty, white buildup on the property side of the pipe, but could not see the incoming pipe itself. We determined that whatever caused the buildup was either no longer present, was abandoned, or was too plugged to be active. When looking at the video again today, it appears that this had to be the drain point from the floor drain, directly into the storm sewer system. Deposits from this floor drain had been significant, and there is evidence of foreign material entering the storm drain system at this point (staining of pipe, etc.). The incoming pipe was therefore damaged and unknowingly filled when the 18" RCP was removed during the Harlan Street construction. 4. Overall, it appears that we have uncovered an improper storm drainage connection that must be corrected, or use of the floor drain must be discontinued. From a Code Enforcement issue, I would appreciate your involvement with this issue, to properly outlay the options for the owner of Seyfer Automotive to correct this problem. I have spoken to Mr. Seyfer in the past and can personally deliver any correspondence on behalf of your office.
