ALERT and ACTION levels are completely adjustable in the field to suit the cleanliness and stability of the environ",en:.
ALARM levels are field adjustable to one of three levels within the UL permitted range. ACTION levels latch and may ::e
used to perform control functions. ALERT levels self-restore and may be used to activate a local sounder base befc;,e
general ALARM evacuation.
FIELD PROGRAMMING - 3 WAYS
1.
1. AUTO-PROGRAM
The AFP-200 identifies all devices that are connect-
ed, determines the type of device, and loads default
values (general alarm) into nonvolatile memory. This
is completed in less than 30 seconds.
2. ON-LINE EDIT
While still providing fire protection, the AFP-200 pro-
gram may be completely edited from the front keypad.
Menu trees permit easy change of any parameter
without referral to the programming manual. Recall,
increment and edit function speeds entry of alphanu.
meric labels. New program check routine catches
common errors.
3. OFF-LINE PC: VeriFire-200
The complete AFP-200 program may be created in
an off.line PC-compatible computer with a Windows@-
based utility, Ihen loaded into Ihe AFP-200 EIA-232
port. The program may also be off. loaded to a PC at
any time. High.speed data transfer completes upload
or download in less than one minute. The PC pro.
gram may also be used to access remote AFp.200
systems over dial.up phone lines, providing detail
status information and history file search/sort.

BGX-l01L
Addressable Manual Pull Station
Section: Intelligent/Addressable Devices
GENERAL
The BGX-1 01 L is an addressable manual pull station with a
key-lock reset feature. It provides the AM2020, AFP1010,
AFP-400, AFP-200, and System 5000 (equipped with an
AIM-200 module) with one addressable alarm initiating in-
put.
FEATURES
Within ADA 5 lb. pull force when used without break-tube
(models manufactured after 10-1-96, identified by an @
under station spring).
Highly visible.
Easily operated (dual-action).
Attractive shape and textured finish.
Semi-fiush, mounts to a standard single-9an9 (2.125" mini-
mum depth), double-gang, or 4" square electrical box.
Operates with or without a crush tube.
Handle latches in down position to clearly indicate the
station has been operated.
Key reset.
Screw terminals for easy connection to SLC Loop Channel.
Optional trim ring.
Meets UL 38, Standard for Manually Actuated Si9naling
Boxes.
CONSTRUCTION
Shell, door, and handle are molded of durable LEXAN@(or
polycarbonate equivalent) with a textured finish.
16 9auge steel back plate.
OPERATION
Pulling the handle down causes it to latch in the down posi-
tion. The handle is restored manually by using a mechani-
cal key which allows the top of the case to pivot forward and
the spring-loaded handle to return to its normal position.
The case can then be pivoted back to its normal position
and secured with the key.
Each manual station, on command from the control panel,
sends data to the panel representing the state of the manual
switch. Two rotary decimal switches allow two-digit address
setting.
LEXAN@ is a registered trademark of GE Plastics, a subsidiary of
General Electric Company.

Wheelock
AS Series Audibie Strobe Devices .
and AH Series Audible Devices
Section: AudioNisual Devices
GENERAL
Wheelock's new two-wire (patent pending) AS Series Audible
Strobe Devices and AH Series AUdible Devices feature less
current draw and reduced inrush. The audible provides a select-
able choice of either a continuous horn tone or a temporal pattern
(Code 3) tone when constant voltage from a Fire Alarm Control
Panel (FACP) is applied. Each tone has three dBA settings to
choose from. All models (audible only or audible/strobe) may be
synchronized when used in conjunction with the 8M or DSM
Sync Module. Additionally, the audible may be Silenced while
maintaining strobe activation on combination AS Series units.
AS Series Audible Strobes and AH Series Audib!es are designed
for maximum performance. reliability, and cost-effectiveness
while meeting or exceeding the latest requirements of NFPA 72
(National Fire Alarm Code). ANSI 117.1 (American National Stan-
dard for Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities) and UL
Standard 1971 (Standard for Signaling Devices for the Hearing
Impaired) and UL 464 (Audible Signal Appliances). AS Series
Audible Strobe Devices, when property specified and installed in
accordance with NFPNANSI standards. can provide the Equiva-
lent Facilitation allowed under ADA Accessibility Guidelines
(ADAAG General Section 2.2) by meeting or exceeding the
illumination which results from the ADA specified strobe intensity
of75 candela at 50 feet (15.24 m). This is an illumination of 0.030
lumens per square foot.
When used with Wheelock SM and/or DSM Sync Modules, syn-
chronization of the continuous horn tone provides the temporal
(Code 3) tone (mandated by NFPA-72 [1993] wilh an effectIVe
date of July 1996) simultaneously for all audible devices. This
ensures a distinct temporal (Code 3) pattern when two or more
audibles are within hearing distance. If not synchronized, the
temporal could overlap and not be distinctive. At the same time.
the strobes will be synchronized. This provides the ability to
comply with ADA recommendations concerning photosensitive
epilepsy and NFPA standards when installing two or more visual
devices within the field of view. These features, and the ability
to silence the audible devices, are achieved using only two
wires.
FEATURES
ADNNFPNANSlcompliant. MeetsOSHA29Part 1910.165.
UL 1971 listed for Signaling Devicesforthe Hearing Impaired and
UL Standard 464 for Audible Signal Appliances.
Lower current draw and reduced inrush.
Patented two-wire device.
Selectable for continuous horn or temporal (Code 3) tones.
Field~selectable dBA levels for both tone varieties:
Continuous tone: anechoic at 90. 95. or99 dBA; reverberant
at 82, 8B. or 91 dBA.
Temporal (Code 3) tone: anechoic at 90, 95. or 99 dBA;
reverberant at 75, 82, or 85 dBA.

HD-600
Heat Detectors
Section: Conventional Initiating Devices
'-
GENERAL
The HD-600 Heat Detector is attractive, durable, and lea-
tures combination rate-ol-rise and fixed-temperature de-
tectors. Heat detectors are available in 135"F (57"C) and
200"F (94"C) temperature ratings.
Rate-ol-rise elements detect heat by quickly responding to
rapid temperature increase. HD-600 detectors use the
same reliable pneumatic rate-ol-rise element used in lormer
models, but oller added aesthetic appeal. The pneumatic
rate-ol-rise element responds to a rapid rise in tempera-
ture, approximately 15"F (8"C) per minute, by expansion
01 air within the sealed chamber laster than it can escape
through a calibrated vent. The resultant increase in pres-
sure depresses the diaphragm, causing the electrical con-
tact to close the circuit. HD-600 rate-ol-rise units have a
wide spacing allowance 01 50-loot (15.24-meter) centers.
See Specifications table (page 2) lor details.
Rxed-temperature elements react to heat by responding
to a specific temperature setting. The fixed-temperature
element uses a lusible alloy. When activated, the extemal
heat collector drops away to provide quick visual conlirma-
tion that the element has operated.
The units protrude only 1-318. (34.925 mm) from the ceil-
ing surface with a junction box mounting. They have pleas-
ing contours and an all-white finish that conlorms to ceiling
aesthetics.
FEATURES
. Rate-of-rise and fixed-temperature.
. One- or two-circuit, normally open.
. Easy installation.
. Low-prolile design.
. Visual indication.
. Operation testing.
INSTALLATION
Each detector includes a patented reversible mounting
plate. In one position, it easily attaches to a 3-114" (82.55
mm) octagonal box or 4" (101.60 mm) junction box.
In reverse, the plate can be used lor open wiring without a
junction box. A 114" (6.35 mm) space between detector
and mounting surface allows lor wire connections. All
mounting screws are concealed.
The detector attaches simply to the mounting plate with a
push and twist motion. No special tools are required.
The mounting plate is molded 01 white self-extinguishing
thermoplastic rated at 105"C. The plate is extremely strong,
yet adapts to uneven mounting surfaces.
