2. This permit shall expire 365 days after the date of issuance regardless of activity. Requests for extension must be made in writing and
received prior to the date of expiration. An extension of no more than 180 days made be granted at the discretion of the Chief Building
Official and may be subject to a fee equal to one-half of the originalpermit fee.
3. If this permit expires, a new permit may be required to be obtained. Issuance of a new permit shall be subject to the standard
requirements, fees androcedures for approval of any new permit. Re -issuance or extension of expired permits is at the sole discretion of

Dear Mr. Palecki:
In accordance with your request, HIE has provided the following letter regarding the proposed
revised bearing condition of the beam associated with the new patio cover located at the rear
patio of the above property. This letter does not pertain to any other component or system of
the property.
The bearing of the beam end is to be revised to be a triple 2x4 stud pack located directly
beneath the beam, with the stud pack placed in the cavity of of the existing exterior wall
framing. This condition is in lieu of the shelf angle shown in the original submittal. The existing
foundation is adequate to support the added loading.
If any questions arise during construction, or conditions that differ from those that were visible
at the time of the review are encountered, the engineer needs to be contacted immediately
prior to continuing work. All dimensions are approximate and need to be confirmed prior to the
start of work.

Building Code: 2018 International Residential Code as adopted and/or amended City
of Wheat Ridge.

FOUNDATIONS
1. Contractor shall be fully familiar with all aspects of the soils report and/or site
specific soil conditions prior to beginning work
2. Footings shall extend below the frost line depth of 36" below grade.
3. Footing elevations shown on plan are maximums and may need to be lowered
due to soil conditions and/or finish grade elevations to achieve the code
required minimum frost depth of 36 inches. Verify changes with structural
engineer.
4. Maximum soil design bearing pressure (undisturbed in-situ) ................ 2,000 psf.
5. Lateral earth pressures.:
at-rest............................................................................................. 60 pcf
active................................................................................................ 45 pcf
passive.......................................................................................... 225 pcf
6. All footings are to be placed on firm, undisturbed, natural soil or properly
compacted backfill, approved by the soils engineer. Backfill shall be
compacted to 9S% (minimum) standard proctor density unless otherwise
recommended in the soils report. if soft spots are encountered remove soil and
recompact with approved fill. (re: soils report for description of bearing soil.)
7. Remove a minimum of 2ft of shallow expansive clays and replace with properly
compacted non -expansive select structural fill under all structural
slabs -on -grade. in liue of this geotechnical recommendation the owner may elect
to accept movement risks. Maintain soils at specified moisture content during
construction.
8. Center all footings under walls, columns or grid lines unless otherwise noted on
plans.
NON-STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS
9. Elements such as non-bearing partitions, etc. attached to and/or supported by
the structure shall take into account deflections and other structural
movements.
10. Fire protection for all structural components shall be provided and shall meet
minimum code requirements for the type of construction specified on the
architectural plans.
11. Movement of the slab on grade may cause damage to non-structural elements
that are connected to both the slab on grade and other structural members.
isolation of these non-structural elements such as partition wall, baseboards,
piping, etc. may be required. see the architectural, mechanical or electrical
drawings for details or consult with appropriate member of the design team
before connecting non-structural elements to both the slab on grade and other
structural members.
12. Cast -in-place and site cast concrete:
13. All cast -in-place concrete shall be made with portland cement, stone aggregate
and shall have the cement type and develop the compressive strength in 28 days
as follows:
13.1 footings .......................................... 4,000 psi, type i, 3-5 in. slump, 3.5-6.5% air
13.2 slabs -on -grade ....................... 4,000 psi, type i, 2-4 in. slump, 0-3% air, 0.50
maximum w/c ratio, 1-1/2" maximum aggregate size
14. All concrete work and reinforcement detailing shall be in accordance with the
most recently adopted version of aci 318, and with aci 301 and 304. hot
weather placement: aci 305. cold weather placement: aci 306.
15. Concrete testing shall be done in accordance with aci 301. tests shall include
cylinders and slump.
16. Concrete materials:
cement shall be astm c150, portland. use only one brand of cement for
each type.

16.1 fine and coarse aggregates: astm c33.
16.2 water shall be clean and potable.
16.3 admixtures containing thiocyanates or containing more than 0.05 percent
chloride ions are prohibited.

16.5 fly ash: astm c618, class f or c. limit use to 20% of cement content.
17. Mix concrete in accordance with astm c94.
18. Deliver and discharge concrete entire load within 90 minutes, or before drum
has turned 300 revolutions, whichever occurs first, after introduction of mixing
water.
19. Unless otherwise noted, all exposed edges of concrete work shall have 3/4 inch
chamfer.
20. Slabs, topping, footings, beams and walls shall not have joints in a horizontal
plane. any stop in concrete work must be made at third point of span with
vertical bulkheads unless otherwise shown. all construction joints shall be as
detailed or as approved by the engineer.
21. Submit a record copy of lifting calculations, reinforcing and lifting inserts to the
engineer of record. these are for information only and will not be reviewed.

REINFORCEMENT
1. Perform all reinforcing work in accordance with crsi manual of standard
practice and conform to aci 315.
2. All reinforcing shall be high-strength deformed bars conforming to astm a615,
grade 60, except weldable reinforcement which shall be astm a706, grade 60.
3. All deformed bar anchors shall conform to astm a496, grade 60. astm a706,
grade 60 bars of the same diameter and length may be used in lieu of deformed
bar anchors.
4. Fabrication and placement tolerances for reinforcing shall be in accordance with
aci 117.

1. All framing and truss lumber shall be pressure treated douglas fir -larch or
hem -fir graded by western wood products association (wwpa) and in
accordance with the following minimum grade requirements.

2. Where the use of preservative treated lumber is required by code, all fasteners
in contact with preservative treated wood shall be stainless steel, silicon bronze,
copper, or hot -dip zinc -coated galvanized steel per astm a153.
3. All connectors used in exterior applications and/or in contact with preservative
treated wood shall have coating typies and weights in accordance with the
treated wood or connector manufacturer's recommendations with a minimum

framing anchors, post caps, etc., unless noted otherwise.
10. The number of bearing studs (jack studs) supporting built-up 2x beams shall
match the number of members in the beam unless noted otherwise. all
engineered wood beams (lvl, lsl, psl, glulam) shall have a minimum 3 bearing
studs (jack studs) unless noted otherwise.
11. The minimum number of full height studs (king studs) adjacent to a
beam/header shall conform to 2015 irc table r602.7.5 unless noted otherwise.
12. All free-standing wood columns and/or stud packs shall have a simpson
strong -tie pb, pbs, cb, cbs, or Icb type post base unless noted otherwise.

GENERAL NOTES

Effective December 1, 2014, asphalt shingle installations require an approved midroof
inspection, conducted when 25-75 percent of the roof covering is installed, prior to final
approval. Installation of roof sheathing (new or overlay) is required on the entire roof
when spaced or board sheathing with ANY gap exceeding one half inch exists. Sheathing and
mid -roofs may be called in at the same time, one hundred percent of the sheathing must be
complete and 25-75 percent of the mid -roof may be complete. Asphalt shingles are required
to be fastened to the roof deck with a minimum of 6 nails per shingle. Ice and water shield
is required. Eave and rake metal is required. A ladder extending 3 feet above the roof eave
and secured in place is required to be provided for all roof inspections. Roof ventilation
is required to comply with applicable codes and/or manufacturer installation instructions,
whichever is more stringent. In order to pass a final inspection of elastomeric or similar
type roof coverings, a letter of inspection and approval from the manufacturer technical
representative stating that "the application of the roof at (project address) has been
applied in accordance with the installation instruction for (roof material brand name)
roof covering" is required to be on site at the time of final inspection.
Roof inspections for ROOFS OVER 6/12 PITCH: 3rd party inspection will be required, the 3rd
party inspection report will be collected at final roof inspection performed by City of

contractors only. This type of permit is ONLY being processed online --do not come

the order they are received and due to the volume of requests, time to process

signed by both parties.
5. Any and all material left over is the property of Shield Construction & Restoration.
6. Customer hereby acknowledges that Shield Construction & Restoration may be subject to delays occasioned by weather, labor disputes and material supply
shortages which are beyond the control of Shield Construction & Restoration and Customer hereby acknowledges that all such delays do not constitute
abandonment and are not included in calculating time frames for payment and performance.
7. Payment is due upon completion. Any portion remaining unpaid will bear the interest of the rate of 18% per annum commencing 30 days after completion.
Customer agrees to pay all collection fees and/or attorney fees needed in pursuit of collecting any remaining unpaid portion. All payments and checks shall
be made payable to Shield Construction & Restoration.
8. All warranties are void if payment is not made hereunder when due. Labor and materials warranty is nontransferable.
9. Labor warranty does not cover damage caused by strong winds, lightning, hail or other acts of God.
10. Shield Construction & Restoration shall hold in trust any payment received from Customer until Shield Construction & Restoration has delivered roofing materials at the
site or has performed a majority of the roofing work on your property.

This contract does not obligate the homeowner or Shield Construction & Restoration in anyway unless it is approved by the insurance company and
accepted by Shield Construction & Restoration.

IRC & 2005 NEC. Per IRC Sec. R313, smoke detectors are required to be installed
in every sleeping room, in hallways outside of sleeping rooms, and on every
level of the structure. Carbon Monoxide detectors are required to be installed
within fifteen(15) feet outside the entrance to each sleeping room. Subject to

1. This permit was issued based on the information provided in the permit application and accompanying plans and
specifications and is subject to the compliance with those documents, and all applicable statutes, ordinances,
regulations, policies and procedures.
2. This permit shall expire 365 days after the date of issuance regardless of activity. Requests for extension must
be made in writing and received prior to the date of expiration. An extension of no more than 180 days made be granted
at the discretion of the Chief Building Official and may be subject to a fee equal to one- half of the original permit fee.
3. If this permit expires, a new permit may be required to be obtained. Issuance of a new permit shall be subject to
the standard requirements, fees and procedures for approval of any new permit. Re- issuance or extension of expired
permits is at the sole discretion of the Chief Building Official and is not guaranteed.
4. No work of any manner shall be performed that shall results in a change of the natural flow of water without prior
and specific approval.
5. The permit holder shall notify the Building and Inspection Services Division in accordance with established policy
of all required inspections and shall not proceed or conceal work without written approval of such work from the
Building and Inspection Services Division.
