Effective December 1, 2014, asphalt shingle installations require an approved midroof
inspection, conducted when 25-75 percent of the roof covering is installed, prior to final
approval. Installation of roof sheathing (new or overlay) is required on the entire roof
when spaced or board sheathing with ANY gap exceeding one half inch exists. Sheathing and
mid -roofs may be called in at the same time, one hundred percent of the sheathing must be
complete and 25-75 percent of the mid -roof may be complete. Asphalt shingles are required
to be fastened to the roof deck with a minimum of 6 nails per shingle. Ice and water shield
is required. Eave and rake metal is required. A ladder extending 3 feet above the roof eave
and secured in place is required to be provided for all roof inspections. Roof ventilation
is required to comply with applicable codes and/or manufacturer installation instructions,
whichever is more stringent. In order to pass a final inspection of elastomeric or similar
type roof coverings, a letter of inspection and approval from the manufacturer technical
representative stating that "the application of the roof at (project address) has been
applied in accordance with the installation instruction for (roof material brand name)
roof covering" is required to be on site at the time of final inspection.
Roof inspections for ROOFS OVER 6/12 PITCH: 3rd party inspection will be required, the 3rd
party inspection report will be collected at final roof inspection performed by City of
Wheat Ridge. If report is not available the final inspection will not be completed.

contractors only. This type of permit is ONLY being processed online --do not come
to City Hall to submit an application in person. Permits are processed and issued in
the order they are received and due to the volume of requests, time to process
varies and is subject to change. YOU WILL BE CONTACTED WHEN YOUR
PERMIT IS READY FOR PICK-UP AND WILL BE GIVEN A SPECIFIC DATE

person at City Hall. The Building Division will be open from 7:30-10:30 a.m.,
Monday through Friday to process these types of requests.

Summary:
Convert the comer bedroom into a bathroom, square up the kitchen, and convert the remainder
of the current bathroom into a laundry closet.
Bathroom I Laundry:
. Remove all existing fixtures, tile, flooring, drywall as necessary, door, etc from the bathroom
and bedroom.
. Relocate the electrical panel in the kitchen as necessary.
. Re-configure the plumbing in the current bathroom area to a laundry setup, and remove all
unnecessary rough plumbing pipes from the current bathroom area.
. Remove the south wall and the kitchen portion of the west wall of the existing bathroom.
. Build a new wall at the north end of the kitchen to square up the kitchen.
. Close up the existing bathroom doorway.
. Cut an opening large enough to install a 5' bifold door in thewall between the existing
bedroom and the existing bathroom.
. Change the electrical as necessary to accommodate a washer and dryer, this includes moving
the 220v outlet for the dryer from it's current location, and installing an outlet for the washer
and a light for the room.
. Remove the drywall (Plasterboard and plaster?) From the walls of the bedroom to
accommodate the installation of the necessary plumbing and electrical for a bathroom.
. Install either one or two new white vinyl windows depending on the decision to close one
window up.
. Frame a wall to become the end wall of the tub, and build out the wall as necessary at the
other end of the tub to bring the tub out past the window (If the Customer decides to
eliminate the window, close it up, insulate it and side it with siding that matches the soffits
as closely as possible. In this scenario, the wall to build out the tub will not have to be built.)
. Install all necessary water and water and drain lines for a tub/shower, sink and toilet.
. Install the necessary electrical for a ceiling light, exhaust fan, light above the sink, and outlet
by the sink.
. Repair the floor as necessary and install necessary underlayment in the new bathroom and

o Install a new light oak 15" - 18" wide linen cabinet and 36" - 42" vanity, with a white on
white cultured marble sink top, a new chrome single handle Delta or similar faucet, new
supply lines and new PVC drain fittings. (Note: The vanity configuration may have to change
slightly to accommodate the layout of the cultured marble top)
o Install a new oak 42" tri-view medicine cabinet.
. Install a new 42" oak vanity light bar.
. Install a new ceiling light fixture.
. Install a new bathroom exhaust fan vented to the outside. (The vent pipe for the existing vent
fan may be able to be used)
o Install two new standard chrome towel bars, and a new standard chrome toilet paper holder.
. Remove all construction debris and clean up the construction area.
Kitchen:
o Remove the paneling from all of the kitchen walls. (Do not remove the copper tile)
. Remove the plumbing where the current washing machine is located.
. Drywall the new walls (Where the bathroom was removed) and repair the remaining walls as
necessary including where the washing machine plumbing was removed, finish and texture
