Secure the post to the beam with Simpson AC6 post caps (fill all nail holes), and secure the post to the pilaster with Simpson ABU66 post base. Provide a 5/8" expansion anchor, embedded 6" minimum, for the post base. Follow all other manufacturer installation recommendations. We understand that manufactured trusses are to be installed for the patio cover. The trusses are to bear solely on the provided beams and are to be secured to the beam with Simpson H2.5T Truss ties. The addition of overframing material to make the roof of the added carport align with the existing roof will be acceptable to bear on the existing structure; however, each overframing member should post down to an existing roof rafter. Where the overframing and new roof meets the existing structures, we recommend providing a shear panel between the roof deck and exterior wall to transfer any lateral load into the foundations of the existing structure.
