This letter provides affirmation that an inspection of the foundation system for the
kitchen expansion and remodel project located at 4115 Brentwood', Street, Wheat Ridge,
Colorado was completed on July 2, 2010,
The following observations of the foundation system were made at the time of our
inspections:
1. It was observed that the foundation bearing surface for the concrete pad
footings were excavated 40 to 44 inches below exiting grade which will be 36-
inches below the final grade. It is our understanding that the existing concrete
slab will be removed and the exposed surface regraded and a new slab will be
placed on the regarded surface. The bearing surface for the pad footings
consisted of moist, slightly silty fine sand. The bearing surface was tamped and
appeared to be capable of providing the necessary contact bearing pressure.
2. The pad foundation dimensions, as designed, were 22 -inch x 22 -inch (Pi), 24-
inch x 24 -inch (1 and 17 -inch x 17 -inch (P3) although the as -built dimensions
were measured to be 30 -inch x 30 -inch for P1 and P2 and 24 -inch x24 -inch for P3
respectively. This increase in footing dimension will, in fact, reduce the soil
bearing pressure and although not anticipated, the potential for settlement will
also be reduced. The increase in footing dimension was a result of the confined
working area created by the depth of the excavations.
3. The concrete pads were re- enforced per the design.

capped -in post bases.
