HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/04/1992 CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE, COLORADO MAY 4, 1992 CITY COUNCIL STUDY SESSION MINUTES The City Council Stuiy Session was called to order by Mayor Winger at 7 35 p m Councilmembers present Elise Brougham, Kent Davis, Don Eafanti, Phil Edwards, Vance Edwards, Ron Selstad, and Bill Shanley Tony FIasco was absent Also present Deputy City Clerk, rhrista Jones, City Administrator, Robert Middaugh, City Attorney, John Hayes, Director of Parks, Gary Wardle, Director of Public Works, Bob Goebel, staff, and interested citizens IteDJ 1 Swimming Pool Feasibility Committee Recommendation Report Mayor Winger welcomed the members of the Swimming Pool Feasibility Committee who were present at the meeting and asked their chairman, Emery Dorsey, to present the report Mr Dorsey explained about the three jifferent options that the committee had studied (included in the Agenda packet) and gave the pros and cons for each option The committee recommends Option #3, which is the most expensive, but the benefits outweigh the negatives Ron Rinker of Barker, Rinker, Seacat & Partners, Architects, presented a slide show, showing recreation centers similar to Option #3 from throughout the state Consensus was 5 in favor that all three options be brought to a regular Council Meeting as soon as possible Mr Selstad asked for a poll which option the rouncilmembers favor Option #1 - 0, Option #2 - 0, Option #3 - 6 in favor Consensus was 7 in favor to develup the plan of the facility and to bring in 3 or 4 sites to choose from Consensus was 4 in favor to leave attached Site Criteria Matrix as is Item 2 Urban Drainage Plan Bob Goebel presented the Columbine Basin Outfall Systems Planning Study Phase I of the study has been completed He introduced Barb Bennik from DRCOG and John Hamilton of Muller Engineering After discussion consensus was 7 in favor to proceed with alternative 2, with the exception of Pond #7, staff was instructed to work with Arvada and Public Service Company to find an alternative to Pond #7 CITY CUUNCIL STUDY SESSION MINUTES Hay 4, 199~ Page -2- Consensus was 4 in favor to bring a motion to the May 11 Council meeting to fill the part time vacancy in the Clerk's Office Meeting adjourned at 9 15 p m , \ \ '.',} "-_.- ~, -\ "' \ ;, , Christa Jones, De~uty City Clerk
