The proposed Decontamination Showers Addition adds only 350 Sq. Ft. to the existing building footprint without permanently impacting any of the on-site circulation. This project has an aggressive schedule to bring new decontamination showers on line as part of the security initiatives for biohazard attacks. Exempla Lutheran Medical Center is planning other expansions on the campus in the near future, which will require a full Planned Hospital District (PHD) amendment process. It is Exempla's desire to fully comply with the intent on city of Wheat Ridge Planning Department and the communities' review of this planned development. As we discussed the Hospital had not yet reached a final decision on the location and size of the decontamination shower at the time the linear accelerator PHD amendment was processed. It is their hope that this smaller project with its critical time line requirements can again be considered as a separate PHD amendment for administrative review without requiring it be included with other larger expansion projects.
