Since the existing foundation wall would be cut to accommodate a new exterior door, it was also the recommendation of our office to install a new helical pile under each side of the new exterior door. Per your request for the above referenced project, our office reviewed the helical pile log and photographs of three helical piles on 10/08/2020. Per the helical pile log provided by D&B Engineering Contractors, dated 10/05/2020, the 1 %° square shaft piles with 8" helix were installed to depths of 23- 25 feet. The exterior piles were installed with a torque of 4000 ft -lbs (20 kip safe working load). The interior pile was installed with a torque of 6000 ft -lbs (30 kip safe working load). It is the professional opinion of our office that the helical piles are in compliance with the general intent of plans prepared by our office dated, 2/26/2020, revised 4/6/2020. The purpose of this report is to document this remediation project was successfully completed, and indoor asbestos amplification was not occurring in the work area. An Industrial Hygienist for Earth Energy Environment (E3) performed the remediation project completion inspection and testing procedures. The remediation work area (Interior Area) was visually inspected in order to confirm the scope of work was properly followed and completed. The containments were also visually inspected to verify breaches and/or defects were not present. Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) samples were collected in accordance with the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) method 7400 using cassettes (standard 3 piece, 25 mm dia., 0.8 um MCE filter) purchased from Zefon International, Inc. The asbestos concentrations in the containment were calculated as airborne fibers per cubic centimeter of air (F/cc). Table 1 provides a summary of the sample numbers, sample volumes, and calculated concentrations. The National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) clearance standard is 0.01 F/cc. Visual inspection confirmed that no asbestos -containing debris was observed in the work areas. The PCM clearance air sample results were all below the NESHAP clearance standard of 0.01 F/cc. Based on the information presented above, E3 concludes the asbestos abatement in the work area has been successfully completed, and the work area may be reoccupied after build back.
