The existing patio roof framing consists of 2 x 6 rafters with a 24" spacing, a 2:12 pitch, and a 9' -0" span between supporting walls and a double 2x10 beam. The patio roof is secured to the end of the house 2x6 rafter tails via a 2x6 ledger board nailed to the trim fascia of the house. The nails have pulled out, and the patio roof has dropped and pulled away. The patio roof is temporarily supported by 4x4 beams and posts. I analyzed the house roof rafter tails ability to support the patio roof and determined that the rafter tails are overstressed at the exterior wall line; accordingly I recommend that (1) new 6' long Hem -fir No. 2 grade 2x4 be secured to the sides of each rafter supporting the patio roof, from the back of the trim fascia up the length of the 2x4, over the wall plate, secured with 16d nails at a 6" spacing, with the end plumb cut at the trim fascia and butted tight to the trim fascia. To support the patio roof against vertical loads causing the drop and wind loads causing the pulling away I recommend that reinforcement angles and screws be added as shown in the attached Sheet No. 1 of 1.
