ENGLEWOOD, CO 801.13 (720) 612-2444 On March 13th, 2020 Majick Engineering was contacted by Mark Omilian about existing floor joist with plumbing penetrations at the single family residence located at 10495 West 35" Place, Wheat Ridge, Colorado 80033. The new plumbing resulted in penetrations which did not meet code requirements. Based on the evaluation of the floor joist, strengthening was required. The existing hole was drilled in the end third of the member span and in the top third of the member's depth. To strengthen the existing 2x10 floor joist with the existing penetration a 4 foot long piece of % inch thick OSB sheathing was attached on each side. The new sheathing was attached with 10d (.148 inch diameter x 3 inch long) nails at 3 inches on center staggered with PL375 Loctite glue, or equivalent. The 4 foot long sheathing was center on the joist penetration. Based on Majick Engineering evaluation the strengthening of the floor joists was adequate to allow penetrations to remain without further retrofitting. The existing floor system is adequate with the strengthen existing floor joist. The above is based upon: • Retrofit was observed with pictures sent by contract on March 27t'', 2020. Majick Engineering is not liable for any mis-information or incorrect information shown in the photographs provided. • No destructive or non-destructive testing was performed. AMHERST AVE. ENGLEWOOD, CO 80113 (720) 612-2444 On April 11t, 2020 Majick Engineering was contacted by Mark Omilian to provide a structural framing acceptance letter based on previous site observation and photographs provide for the framing at 10495 West 35`h Place, Wheat Ridge, Colorado 80033. The acceptance letter is for the architectural members welds from post to beam, 2x6 collar tie in roof framing, and offset trimmer supports. Based on the previous site observation performed on February 27`", 2020 and photographs provided by the contractor. The existing 2x6 collar ties are an acceptable replacement to the 2x8 collar tie specified. 2x6 members must have the same grade and specified collar ties with the same attachment. If 2x6 collar tie member is split at the connection 2x8 member shall be required. The weld from steel post to W8 beam is adequate. The framing at the 2x10 header was modified to allow for the offset of the trimmers studs. The existing (2) 2x10 header with reduce span is adequate to support the new beam in the as built configuration. Based on the previous site observation and photographs provided the collar ties, post to beam weld, and ridge beam support meet the structural design intent of the construction drawings. As built condition is acceptable in the professional opinion of Majick Engineering. The above is based upon: • Visual observations were only performed reinforcement only and does not included areas unable to be observed due to access. Photographs provided by the contractor which show condition are assumed to be consistent and correct. Majick Engineering is not liable for construction shown in photographs provided which differ from as built condition. • No destructive or non-destructive testing was performed. Majick Engineering is not liable for any hidden deficiencies that lead to failure or any incurred damage. • Conclusions and recommendations are based on accepted industry standards and no warranty is either expressed or implied as to continued structural integrity of the property. • Opinions stated in this letter are subject to change if conditions, accessibility, or visibility from time of inspection change or if additional information becomes available for consideration. • Therefore, the value (liability) of this design shall be limited to the amount of the fee charged for the service.
