REGARDING ROOF VENTILATION: Roof ventilation shall comply with IBC Sec. 1203.2 or IRC Sec.
R806. The installation of ridge venting requires the installation or existence of soffit
venting. For calculation purposes, one hat or turtle vent equal to one-half of one square
foot of opening.
Effective December 1, 2014, asphalt shingle installations require an approved midroof
inspection, conducted when 25-75 percent of the roof covering is installed, prior to final
approval. Installation of roof sheathing (new or overlay) is required on the entire roof
when spaced or board sheathing with ANY gap exceeding one half inch exists. Sheathing and

2.1 Generaf:
The Grey Couche Stucco Syslem is a proprietary mixture o(
portiand cement, sand, water and proprietary ingredients
reinforced with wire fabnc or melal lath which is applied to
substretes of expanded polystyrena ([PS) insuietion board,
extruded polystyrene insulation board, Monsanto Fome-Cor
8oaro, gypsum sheathing, plywoodorflbertoartl. The system
is installed on eMerior walis of wpaf or steel stud
construction.
2.2 Materials:
2.2.1 Grey Couche Stucco: A factory-pa3pared mixNre of
Type I or Type 11 port{and cement complyng with ASTM C
150, lime complying with ASTM C 206, sand complying with
Section 2.2.3 and propnetary additives. The miMure is
packaged in 75-pound bags. Approaimatety 1'!, gallons of
water are adtled to each bag in the field ard mixed in
accordance with manufacturer recommendations. The
product is available in a gray color.
2.2.2 Sand: Must be clean and free from deleterious
amounts of loam, clay, silt, sohibie salts ard organic matter.
Sampling and testing must comply with ASTM C 144. Sand
must bo graded within tho follown9 limits:

2.2.6.1 Wire Fabric Lath: Minimum No. 20 gage 1-inch
galvanized steel woven wire tabria Lath must be self-turred
or furred when appliad over alI substratas except unbacked

To Whom It May Concem,
I did on November 4, 2003 observe the construction of the above noted residence. The
proposed new constntction will include a new second floor addition which will be
approximately 47'-6" X 29'-0 and will be situated over the main body of the house not to
include the master bedroom area.
The entire existing roof will be removed and a new pitched roof using prefab trusses will
be installed over both the second story addition and the old or existing first floor areas.
I have checked the existing foundation for the new proposed loading. The oniy area that
will require additional foorings will be at the four comers of the second floor footprint
area.
The exisUng foundation which is a 3'-0" tall frost wall are presently in good condition.
The proposed addition will work fine because the existing flat roofjoist are 2 X 12's at
16" on center and will now become the second story floor joist with a floor redesign load
of 50 psf instead of an existing roof design of 45 psf.
It is this engineer's opinion that with the four new concrete pads 3'-6 X 3'-6 X 12" with
6-#4 bars each way bottom added to the existing foundation for the second floor loading
the existing home can and will suppod the new additional loads.
