Both the front and back of this permit are required to be posted on the job site at all
times. If the complete permit is not present, inspections WILL NOT be performed.
Work shall comply with 2012 IRC & 2017 NEC. Per IRC Sec. R314, smoke detectors are required
to be installed in every sleeping room, in hallways outside of sleeping rooms, and on every
level of the structure.
I, by my signature, do hereby attest that the work to be performed shall comply with all accompanying approved plans and specifications;
applicable building codes, and all applicable municipal codes, policies and procedures, and that I am the legal owner or have been authorized
by the legal owner of the property and am authorized to obtain this permit and perform the work described and approved in conjunction with

Division.

Effective December 1, 2014, asphalt shingle installations require an approved mi.droof
inspection, conducted when 25-75 percent of the roof covering is installed, prior_ to final
approval. Installation of roof sheathing (new or overlay) requires an approved inspection
prior to installation of ANY roof coverings and is require on the entire roof when spaced
or board sheathing with ANY gap exceeding one half inch exists. Asphalt shingles are
required to be fastened to the roof deck with a minimum of 6 nails per shingle. Ice and
water shield is required. Eave and rake metal is required. A ladder extending 3 feet above
the roof eave and secured in place is required to be provided for all roof inspections.
Roof ventilation is required to comply with applicable codes and/or manufacturer
installation instructions, whichever is more stringent. In order to pass a final inspection
of elastomeric or similar type roof coverings, a letter of inspection and approval from the
manufacturer technical representative stating that "the application of the roof at (project
address) has been applied in accordance with the installation instruction for (roof
material brand name) roof covering" is required to be on site at the time of final
inspection.
Roof inspections for ROOFS OVER 6/12 PITCH: 3rd party inspection will be required, the 3rd
party inspection report will be collected at final roof inspection performed by City of
Wheat Ridge. If report is not available the final inspection will riot be completed.

RE: Flush Mount Solar Photovoltaic Structural Installation
JVA Project No. 18567
At your request we have prepared this letter regarding the ability of existing roof structures to resist
the superimposed dead load of the photovoltaic (PV) flush -mount systems for residential
dwellings. This letter outlines prescriptive requirements, and if fulfilled, the added dead load of
the proposed PV system will not overstress the existing structure and the flush mount modules will
not add additional wind loads to the roof framing. All other systems that do not meet the
prescriptive requirements of this letter will required design by an engineer registered in the State
of Colorado.
Furthermore, this letter is only for the exclusive use between Namaste Solar and JVA. It does not
apply to any other installation by any other solar PV provider.
A project will qualify as a prescriptive installation with an acceptable supporting roof structure if
all of the following criteria are met:
1. System Type: Unirac Corporation, Solar Mount Rail or IronRidge XR rail with a
maximum height of 12" off the roof surface. JVA understands that this installation method

2. Solar Module Layout: The solar modules shall not hang below the eave of the roof
system, or extend beyond the edge of the roof, nor shall it pass the plan perpendicular to
the array roof surface at the ridge.
3. Roof Framing: The supporting roof framing must be of typical residential construction
with multiple pre-engineered wood trusses with a minimum truss chord size of 2x4 and a
maximum spacing of 24 -inches or a minimum rafter size of 2x6 and a maximum spacing
of 48 -inches. All tied -rafter roof systems are excluded from general approval and will
require site-specific engineering.
4. Roof material: Roof material must be either single layer composition, wood or shake
shingle. Multiple layers of roof material are not covered by this letter. Concrete or tile
roofs require specific engineering.
5. Standoff Roof Brackets: IronRidge Flashfoot2, Quickmount, Zilla XL, and Zilla Double
stud are all appropriate brackets. JVA understand that each of these brackets are analyzed
and sealed by another engineer licensed in the State of Colorado or have been evaluated by
the ICC Evaluation Service.

7. Dead Load and Snow Load: The total dead load weight of the solar modules and racking
does not exceed 5 pounds per square foot (psf). The roof snow load does not exceed 30
psf.
8. Wind Loading: The wind loading analysis is based on 4'-0" spacing of standoff base
plates and rail spans. Therefore, the maximum ultimate allowable wind loading parameters
are 170 mph, 3 second gust, exposure C, roof zone 2; 170 mph, 3 second gust, exposure B,
roof zone 3; and 140 mph, 3 second gust, exposure C, roof zone 3 as defined in ASCE, 7-
10. Any wind load parameter in excess of the listed conditions will require site-specific
engineering.
Based on the prescriptive requirements, the PV panel mounting system attaches to the existing
roof with standoff baseplates spaced at a maximum of 48 inches perpendicular to the joist span.
As a means to help define the prescriptive criteria, enclosed with this letter is Namaste PV
Structural Requirement, No. NSE2009-075, dated August 19, 2009.
If the installation meets all of the parameters of the prescriptive requirements, we would conclude
that the roof framing is adequate for support of the solar installation. Please contact me if you

The IronRidge XR100 Rail is an extruded aluminum section with an overall depth of 2.438 in. and a
net area of 0.583 sq.in. The rails are used to support solar modules, typically, on the roof of a
building. See Exhibit 0011— attached. The modules are clamped to the rails by the IronRidge
Module Mounting Clamps as shown in the attached Exhibit. The rails are attached to the L -Foot
aluminum angle brackets that are either attached directly to the roof framing or attached to a stand
that is screwed to the roof framing. The rails are mounted across the slope with a small clearance
(flush mounting) to the underlying roof structure. The installed solar modules are at the same slope
as the underlying roof structure.
All loads are transferred to the roof framing through the angle brackets by simple bi-axial flexure of
the rails. The maximum span of the rails is governed by either the mid -span flexural stresses or the
deflection requirement that the rail not come into contact with the roof.
The effect of seismic loads (for all design categories A -F) have been determined to be less than the
effect due to wind loads in all load conditions and combinations. Therefore, the maximum allowable
spans for common load cases are shown in the tables below. Tables IA -9A are for modules with a
maximum long dimension of 67.5 inches and Tables 1B -9B are for modules with a maximum long
dimension of 78.5 inches.

Traditionally, solar modules are grounded by attaching
lugs, bolts or clips to the module frame, then connecting
these to a copper conductor that runs throughout the
array. This process adds time and cost to the installation,
and often results in improper grounding, creating
significant long-term safety risks.
The IronRidge Integrated Grounding System solves these
challenges by bonding modules directly to the mounting
rails. This approach eliminates separate module
grounding hardware, and it creates many parallel
grounding paths throughout the array, providing
greater safety for system owners.

Effective December 1, 2014, asphalt shingle installations require an approved midroof
inspection, conducted when 25-75 percent of the roof covering is installed, prior to final
approval. Installation of roof sheathing (new or overlay) requires an approved inspection
prior to installation of ANY roof coverings and is require on the entire roof when spaced
or board sheathing with ANY gap exceeding one half inch exists. Asphalt shingles are
required to be fastened to the roof deck with a minimum of 6 nails per shingle. Ice and
water shield is required. Eave and rake metal is required. A ladder extending 3 feet above
the roof eave and secured in place is required to be provided for all roof inspections.
Roof ventilation is required to comply with applicable codes and/or manufacturer
installation instructions, whichever is more stringent. In order to pass a final inspection
of elastomeric or similar type roof coverings, a letter of inspection and approval from the
manufacturer technical representative stating that "the application of the roof at (project
address) has been applied in accordance with the installation instruction for (roof
material brand name) roof covering" is required to be on site at the time of final
inspection.
Roof inspections for ROOFS OVER 6/12 PITCH: 3rd party inspection will be required, the 3rd
party inspection report will be collected at final roof inspection performed by City of
Wheat Ridge. If report is not available the final inspection will not be completed.

contractors only. This type of permit is ONLY being processed online --do not come
to City Hall to submit an application in person. Permits are processed and issued in
the order they are received. YOU WILL BE CONTACTED WHEN YOUR PERMIT

when necessary, which shall become a part of this agreement. KAPE Roofing & Gutters
Inc, as the contractor, is entitled to the full O&P provided by the insurance company.
Building Owner (s) (Customer) hereby retains Kape Roofing & Gutters, Inc. (KAPE) to repair/replace the roof and/or gutters upon the above stated property, contingent upon
KAPE' s receipt of Customer's insurance company (Carrier) approval and payment of said work. Customer understands and agrees that KAPE Roofing & Gutters, Inc. will
review said work proposal with Carrier's representative. Work will commence only after KAPE and carrier agree upon the extent of damages and the cost of repairs and
replacements. This agreement is for full scope of insurance proceeds not excluding deductible, depreciation, overhead, and profit, therefore CUSTOMER'S OUT OF
POCKET EXPENSE WILL BE CUSTOMER'S INSURANCE POLICY DEDUCTIBLE AND ANY NON RECOVERABLE DEPRECIATION for work agreed upon
between Carrier and KAPE. AS PER CO LAW S1338, KAPE CANNOT PAY WANE OR REBATE THE DEDUCTIBLE IN PART OR IN WHOLE. Customer agrees to
provide all necessary documentation for the claim, and any documentation necessary to facilitate payment from the Carrier or Mortgage Company.
Carrier only pays for installed materials. All surplus material is property of KAPE. Replacement of deteriorated siding, decking, fascia board, ventilators, flashing, or other
materials is not included and will be charged as extra unless otherwise stated above.
Customer may be required to supply all electricity necessary for the work. Lien waiver submitted upon final payments. KAPE is not responsible for interior personal items .
All work is to be completed in a workmanlike manner according to standard practices. The Customer hereby acknowledges that KAPE may be subject to delays due to
inclement weather or material shortages, which are each beyond the control of KAPE and therefore accepts any delays that may occur by one or all of these circumstances
upon completion of said work. Customer grants access to the property as is necessary for the setup and execution of work. Any changes from the above specificatiou5
involving extra costs will be executed only upon written order and will become and extra charge over and above the estimate.
WARRANTY TERMS: KAPE Roofing & Gutters, Inc., agrees to repair any defect in workmanship for a period of two (2) years following work completion. KAPE' s
liability is limited to its cost to affect any warranty repairs. Warranty does not cover damage to roofs caused by lightning, gale (>50mph), hurricane, tornado, hailstorm, or
other violent storm, impact of foreign objects or damage to roofs due to settlement, distortion, failure or cracking of the roof deck, walls, or foundation of building. This
WARRANTY is null and void if payment, or any other terms of the contract have not been met. THIS WARRANTY IS NON -TRANSFERABLE. All statements on reverse
