For the 5.5' grid length, this should result in 4.5' of grid extending from the back face of the wall. With the 5' distance to the property line, you should have 0.5' of clearance and will not extend to property line. In addition, I have spoken to our contractor (HE[ Civil) regarding the existing fence along property line. They are aware of its presence but are not 100% sure of its exact location with regards to property line. They are going to be staking the location of the retaining wall shortly. Once they are able to establish its exact location, they will come up with a plan on how to accommodate the wall construction with regards to the fence location. The northern wall (Wall #1) lies 5ft off of the property line (back face / soil side of wall to property line). The Vespa wall calculations are showing a soil reinforcement length of 5.5ft. 1 need to know whether the Vespa software considers that dimension measured from the front face of the wall to the end of geogrid OR from the back face / soil side of wall to the end of geogrid. If measured from the back face, the geogrid will extend 0.5ft beyond the property line. See attached markup for a diagram. The geogrid cannot extend beyond the property line. Ideally, we'd like to see 0.5ft - 1ft of clearance between the tail end of the geogrid and the property line since there's a fence there now. The fence will have to be replaced or removed/reset if the wall construction interferes with the existing fence or impacts the integrity of the fence. Please provide some clarification at your earliest convenience so we can wrap up review of the permit application.
