inspection, conducted when 25-75 percent of the roof covering is installed, prior to final
approval. Installation of roof sheathing (new or overlay) is required on the entire roof
when spaced or board sheathing with ANY gap exceeding one half inch exists. Sheathing and
mid -roofs may be called in at the same time, one hundred percent of the sheathing must be
complete and 25-75 percent of the mid -roof may be complete. Asphalt shingles are required
to be fastened to the roof deck with a minimum of 6 nails per shingle. Ice and water shield
is required. Eave and rake metal is required. A ladder extending 3 feet above the roof eave
and secured in place is required to be provided for all roof inspections. Roof ventilation
is required to comply with applicable codes and/or manufacturer installation instructions,
whichever is more stringent. In order to pass a final inspection of elastomeric or similar
type roof coverings, a letter of inspection and approval from the manufacturer technical
representative stating that "the application of the roof at (project address) has been
applied in accordance with the installation instruction for (roof material brand name)
roof covering" is required to be on site at the time of final inspection.
Roof inspections for ROOFS OVER 6/12 PITCH: 3rd party inspection will be required, the 3rd

Residential Roofing Permit Application
This application is exclusively for new permits for residential roofs and for licensed
contractors only. This type of permit is ONLY being processed online --do not come
to City Hall to submit an application in person. Permits are processed and issued in
the order they are received and due to the volume of requests, time to process
varies and is subject to change. YOU WILL BE CONTACTED WHEN YOUR
PERMIT IS READY FOR PICK-UP AND WILL BE GIVEN A SPECIFIC DATE
AND TIME WINDOW TO COMPLETE THE TRANSACTION. You will be notified if
your contractor's license or insurance has expired, and you may update those
documents at the time you are issued your permit.
For all other requests:
Homeowners wishing to obtain a roofing permit must apply for the permit in person
at City Hall. Revisions to existing permits (for example, to add redecking) must be
completed in person at City Hall. All other non -roofing permits must be completed in
person at City Hall. The Building Division will be open from 7:30-10:30 a.m.,
Monday through Friday to process these types of requests.

Effective December 1, 2014, asphalt shingle installations require an approved midroof
inspection, conducted when 25-75 percent of the roof covering is installed, prior to final
approval. Installation of roof sheathing (new or overlay) is required on the entire roof
when spaced or board sheathing with ANY gap exceeding one half inch exists. Sheathing and
mid -roofs may be called in at the same time, one hundred percent of the sheathing must be
complete and 25-75 percent of the mid -roof may be complete. Asphalt shingles are required
to be fastened to the roof deck with a minimum of 6 nails per Ejhingle. Ice and water shield
is required. Eave and rake metal is required. A ladder extending 3 feet above the roof eave
and secured in place is required to be provided for all roof inspections. Roof ventilation
is required to comply with applicable codes and/or manufacturer installation instructions,
whichever is more stringent. In order to pass a final inspection of elastomeric or similar
type roof coverings, a letter of inspection and approval from the manufacturer technical
representative stating that "the application of the roof at (project address) has been
applied in accordance with the installation instruction for (roof material brand name)
roof covering" is required to be on site at the time of final inspection.

These are the recommended muterlals for your foundation
• 2 x 4's Pressure Treate'd Lumber • 5/8' 4 x 8 Plywood-ezter, r grade.
• 10 & 4 penny Galvanized Nails • Concrete 8locks (optional;
The platlorm should be level and flat (free of bumps, ridges e,
to provide good suppon for the building. The necess8ry mate iats
may be obtained from your local lumber yard.
To construct the foundatlon follow Instructlons and dLigra .i.
Construct frame (using 10 penny galvanized nails)
Measure 16'124' sections to construct inside frame (see (liag, im)
Secure plywood to frame (using 4 penny galvanized nail_.)
Allow 6 - 7 hours far construction.
Note: Platlorm/Slab will extend 9/16" beyond tloor fratne
on all tour sides. Seal this 9(16" of wood with a rooftng
cement (not Included), or bevel this 9/16" of concrete
OPTION 3: Concrete Slab when pouring, for good water dreinage.
The slab should be at least 3' to 4• thick: 4t must be level and flat to provlde good support for the frame.
7he following are tbe recommended materials for your foundatlon.
• 1 x 4's (will be removed once the concrete cures) :
• Concrete • Sheet of 6 mil piastic
• We recommentl for a proper strength concrete to use a miz of:
1 pan cement • 3 parts pea sized gravel + 21(2 parts clean sand
Prepare the SItelConstruct a Foundatlon
1 . Dig a square, 6' deep into the ground (remove grass).
2. Fill up to a• in the square with gravel and tamp firtn.
3. Cover gravel with a sheet of 6 mil piastic.
4. Construct a wcod frame using four planks of 1 x 4 lumber. FR<ONT

(1) This permitwas issued in accordance with the provisions set forth in your application and is subjectto the laws of the State of
Coloredo and to the Zoning Regulations and Building Codes of Wheat Ridge, Colorado or any other applicable ordinances of
the Ciry.
(2) This pertnit shall_expire if (A) the work authorized is not commenced within sixty (90) days from issue date or (B) the building
authorized Is suspended or abandoned for a period of 180 days.
(3) If this permlt expires, a new permit may be acquired for a fee of one-halfthe amount normally required, provided no changes
have been orwill be made in the original plans and specifications and anysuspension or abandonment has not exceeded one
(1) year. If changes have been or if suspension or abandonment exceeds one (1) year, full fees shall be paid for a new pertnit
