There is a detention pond on the south and a drainage swale along the easterly side of the site that is shown as a"Grass Lined Swale." After re-looking at the approved Grading & Erosion Control Plan approved back in Apri12003, I noticed that the seed mix, method of placement, rate oF application for the seed, and erosion control "cover" for these areas is absent from the Plan. These items related to native seeding are known as BMP's (Best Management Practices) and will need to be employed during this site development to minimize soil erosion. Due to the fact that the City of Wheat Ridge is now an MS4 city (Stormwater permit issued by the State) we aze obligated to enforce these federally mandated Clean Water Act requirements. In order to meet Clean Water Act requirements, it is imperative that the vegetative cover be established for both the detention area and the "Grass Lined Swale." Therefore the Public Works Department is requesting that the flowing items be submitted for review and approval prior to placement of a permanent vegetative covering: 1. A seed mix design, including a statement of the application method (e.g., drill-seeded, etc.) to be used, and the proposed rate of application. 2. The form of erosion control mat to be employed to establish vegetative cover for the "Grass Lined Swale." The City recommends blanket type CFG2000 made by Greenfix America, LLC. If a different product is to be employed, the specification sheet shall be submitted to Public Works for review and approval prior to placement. Unless otherwise designated, all referenced specifications, standazds or policies shall be the latest edition as revised or updated by approved supplements published and issued prior to the date of the building pernut. REQUIREMENTS All materials sampling and testing shall be performed by certified, experienced and qualified materials testing technicians who work under the supervision of a registered professional engineer in the State of Colorado. All materials sampling and testing equipment shall be serviceable and have current calibrated certifications. Soil classifications and moisture-density curves shall be provided to the Department of Public Works inspector prior to in-place density testing. Materials testing technicians shall fiunish copies of failed test results to the inspector as promptly as the results become available.
