Final clearance was performed following the removal of asbestos containing drywall throughout the main level at the above referenced property. Samples were collected by a Colorado Certified Air Monitoring Specialist (AMS). Samples were analyzed onsite using a satellite laboratory under Air Quality Analysis certified by the American Industrial Hygiene Association. AQA- AIHA Certificate number is 273822. The analysis was performed by the AMS, a Proficiency Analytical Testing (PAT) certified microscopist, utilizing Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM). Removal and disposal of the asbestos containing material was Extreme Environmetnal . This report details the fieldwork completed and analytical results of samples collected. 1.0 FIELD ACTIVITIES Visual Inspections Prior to collecting air samples for clearances a post abatement final visual inspection was conducted to verify the asbestos containing material was removed or sealed as specified, and that the containment was free from visible dust and debris. With only critical barriers in place and the HEPA air filtration unit still in operation, the air monitoring specialist (AMS) conducted a thorough visual inspection of the regulated work area. Careful examinations of all areas within the containment where debris and water could accumulate and be concealed were thoroughly inspected. If any area had visible dust or debris, the contractor was required to perform the necessary re -cleaning until the area met the final visual inspection criteria. Once the containment met the visual criteria aggressive final air clearance sampling was performed. Aggressive Method Final air clearance was conducted using aggressive techniques as outlined in Appendix A of the EPA Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) regulation (40 CFR Part 763), and as referenced in CDPHE Regulation No. 8 Part B Asbestos. Aggressive sampling consists of agitating the air using a leaf blower with 1 horsepower, on low, for five (5) minutes for every 1,000 square feet of floor space and one (1) stationary box fan per 10,000 cubic feet of volume in containment. For each work area one (1) box fans was strategically placed within the containment and the leaf blower was used five (5) minutes. Air Sampling Following the aggressive protocol activities, five (5) air samples were then collected throughout the containment, using variable high volume pumps. Flow rates of each pump were established and checked with a calibrated flow meter before and after the collection of each sample using a rotameter (secondary standard) traceable to a primary standard. Air samples were collected by drawing air through 25mm mixed cellulose ester membrane (Millipore 0.8 MCEF) filter, housed in three-piece cassettes and equipped with 50mm electrically conductive extension cowls. A pre and post calibration of each sample pump was documented and an average flow rate was calculated and used in the final analysis of each sample collected. Calculations used in the final analysis combine the average flow rate (LPM), the total sample time and the volume of air collected. PCM Analysis All air samples collected were analyzed onsite by the AMS under Air Quality Analysis, LLC using the Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) NIOSH 7400 Method. Samples were analyzed for airborne fibers using a positive Phase -Contrast microscope equipped with a Walton -Beckett graticule (type G-22 for "A counting Rules"). Only fibers greater than 5 microns in length with a length -width (aspect) ratio equal to or greater than 3:1 were counted. A total fiber count for each sample filter was divided by their respective sample volumes. The resulting concentrations were expressed in terms of total fibers per cubic centimeter of air (fibers/cc). The resulting concentrations were expressed in terms of total fibers per cubic centimeter of air (f/cc). PCM is not asbestos specific as it counts total fibers, which shows worse case situation because all fibers are counted (carpet, cloth, hair, paper, asbestos, etc.). Final Clearance Criteria An asbestos abatement action is considered complete when the results of samples collected within the abatement work area and analyzed by PCM using the NIOSH Method 7400 show that the concentration of fibers for each of the five samples collected is equal to or less than, 0.01 f/cc. The is the level the EPA and the Air Quality Control Commission (CDPHE) requires all samples to be equal to or less than in order to have an area released to the public. All final air samples collected for this project have met the clearance criteria and the containment can be Dismantled, and the area returned for normal occupancy. 2.0 FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS Analytical results from the area sampled during final clearance testing had fiber counts of 0.01f/cc (fibers per cubic centimeter of air) or less. This is the level the EPA and the State of Colorado Air Quality Control Commission requires all samples to be equal to, or less than, prior to releasing an area for public occupancy. Based on visual observations, documentation review and air sample results, it is the opinion of DEC that the air quality within your work areas were in compliance with regulatory and industry standards at the time the sampling was conducted. 3.0 LIMITATIONS The PCM final air clearance was conducted in a manner consistent with the level of care and skill ordinarily exercised by members of the profession currently practicing under similar conditions in the same locale. The results, findings and/or conclusions expressed in this report are based on conditions observed during our testing of the areas in question. The information contained in this report is relevant to the date on which the PCM fi-nal air clearance was performed and should not be relied upon to represent conditions at a later date. This report has been prepared on behalf of and exclusively for use by the client for specific application to the project as discussed. This report details the fieldwork completed and analytical results of samples collected It is our understanding that you are planning renovation activihes at He above referenced address Per He United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) procedures published in Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) The 40 Part 763, Subpart E — Aebeerouonesining Matsrlols in Schools and Colorado Regulation 8 (Regmahon 8), suspect Asbestos Containing Building Materials (ACBM) must be properly sampled and analyzed prior to any renovation or demolition achvihes. The purpose ofthis sampling was to evaluate forthe presence of any ACM in He areas identified The inspection was conducted in accordance with Regulation 8. These inspection protocols specify requirements for He inspector (Section 763.85), laboratory (Section 763.87), and number of samples collected during an inspection (Section 763.86). 1.0 FMLDACTMTMS The inspection was conducted by a Colorado State Certified Asbestos Building Inspector on May 29m, 2020. This inspection involved identification and sampling of suspect ACM at He above referenced property. Bulk samples of suspect ACM were collected by the Inspector in general conformance with Asbestos Hazardous Emergency Response Act (AHERA) protocols a outlined in Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHM Regulation 8 Random samples of suspect materials were collected in each homogeneous area (see Table 1— Homogeneous Materials Table). Samples were placed in sealable containers and labeled with unique sample numbers using an indelible marker. 2.0 LARORATORY ANALYSIS Fourteen (14) samples were submitted under chain of custody procedures to Eurofins CEI labs for analysis by polarized light microscopy (PLM) with dispersion staining techniques per EPA methodology (40 PER 763, Subpart F). Visual emmahons were used in obtaining the cram Wheat Ridge Building Division v N R m 2 0 ENVIRONNIENT/1L CONSULTING percentage of asbestos in bulk samples. Eurofins CEI is accredited trader the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditafion Program (NVLAP) Lab Code: 101768-0. Copies of the original laboratory reports are attached to this summary report. 3.0 FINDINGS Suspect ACM includes nearly all building materials except bare concrete, glass, wood, masonry, metal or rubber. ACM contains asbestos greater Nan 1 percent, (> 1%asbestos) as confirmed by an accredited laboratory. ACM is categorized as Friable or Non -friable asbestos. Friable asbestos ran be crumbled, pulverized, or reduced to a powder by hand pressure when dry. Non - friable asbestosis any material that cmu of be crumbled, pulverized or reduced to a powder by hand pressure when dry. 3.1 Identified Asbestos Containing Materials Based on the completed PLM results, asbestos was identified in the main floor bedroom drywall ceiling samples collected. Tablet, enclosed, contains a summary of samples and results. 4.0 CONCLUSION&RECOMMENDATION If the asbestos containing material is to be impacted for renovation, it must be removed by a certified General Abatement Contractor (OAC). Only listed materials were tested or quantified as part of this inspection. If materials are encountered that have not been discussed in this report, stop all demolition activities and contact a Colorado Certified Asbestos Building Inspector to test Nose materials prior to continuing with building demolition. 5.0 LEVDTATIONS This asbestos inspection was conducted in a manner consistent with the level of care and skill ordinarily exercised by members of the profession currently practicing under similar conditions in the same locale. The results, findings, conclusions and/or recommendations expressed in this report are based on conditions observed during our asbestos building inspection of the areas ideufified as the renovation area. The information contained in this report is relevant to the date on which this survey was performed, and should not be relied upon to represent conditions at a later date This asbestos inspection report is not considered a comprehensive asbestos inspection report and it must be understood that the existence of unique or concealed ACM may be possible. TABLE 1 6480 W. 31" Avenue, Wheat Ridge, Colorado, WesTest Project No. 610818, August 9, 2018 SCOPE This report presents the results of a geotechnical investigation for a proposed addition to a residence located at 6480 W. 31" Avenue, Wheat Ridge, Jefferson County, Colorado. The investigation was conducted to evaluate subsurface conditions and provide foundation design criteria recommendations for the proposed construction. This report includes descriptions of the subsoil and groundwater conditions found in the exploratory borings and recommended design and construction criteria for foundations, slabs on grade, utility trench construction, soil compaction and general construction practices. SUMMARY OF CONCLUSIONS Subsoils encountered in the borings consisted of silty sand overlying claystone bedrock. The upper 6 feet of the bedrock was weathered. Free groundwater was encountered in the boring at a depth of 13 feet at the time of drilling. One day after drilling the water was at a depth of 87'. The silty sand that was encountered is loose to medium dense and consolidates upon loading and when inundated with water. The recommended foundation type for the addition is spread footings or pads bearing on the existing silty sand. SITE CONDITIONS The area investigated is a developed residential neighborhood. The site is landscaped and slopes away from the residence on all sides. PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION It is our understanding the proposed addition will be a single story wood framed structure with a garden level basement. If this is not correct we should be contacted to reevaluate our recommendations. FIELD INVESTIGATION Subsurface conditions at the site were investigated by drilling one exploratory boring at the location indicated on Figure 1, Boring Location Plan. The boring was field located by measuring from existing landmarks. The boring was drilled with a Diedrich 50 truck- mounted drill rig using four inch diameter continuous flight augers. Samples were obtained using a 2.5 -inch diameter modified California barrel sampling tube. Samplers were driven into the soils with blows of a 140 pound hammer falling 30 inches. The number of blows required to drive the sampler 12 inches is known as the penetration test city of and is an indication of the consistency or relative density of the material. Our representative was on site during drilling to log the soils encountered and obtain samples. Wheat Ridge Samples from the borings were returned to our laboratory, visually classified and selected Building Division for testing. A graphic log of the soils found in the boring, penetration test results and 6480 W. 31" Avenue, Wheat Ridge, Colorado, WesTest Project No. 610818, August 9, 2018 1 laboratory test results are presented on Figure 2, Log of Boring. The Legend and Notes used to interpret this log is also included on Figure 2. SUBSURFACE AND GROUNDWATER CONDITIONS TOPSOIL The upper one foot of material is topsoil. Topsoil should not be used for structural support or as backfill. Topsoil should be removed from the addition area and stockpiled for re -use in planted areas. SILTY SAND The silty sand was encountered beneath the topsoil and extends to a depth of twelve feet. The silty sand was loose to medium dense, moist to wet and brown. This material indicated moderate consolidation characteristics when tested for swell -consolidation. This material is generally non -cohesive and may be susceptible to sloughing and caving. WEATHERED CLAYSTONE BEDROCK Weathered claystone bedrock was encountered beneath the silty sand at a depth of 12 feet and extends to the claystone bedrock below. The weathered claystone bedrock is moist and brown. CLAYSTONE BEDROCK Claystone bedrock was encountered beneath the weathered claystone bedrock at a depth of eighteen feet and extends to a depth of twenty-five feet, the maximum depth explored. The claystone bedrock was medium hard to hard, moist and olive. GROUNDWATER Free groundwater was encountered in at a depth of thirteen feet at the time of drilling. When checked one day after drilling the water level was 87' below the surface. Water levels will fluctuate due to environmental conditions, precipitation and irrigation of surrounding properties. LABORATORY TESTING Samples from the borings were returned to our laboratory, visually classified and selected for testing. Laboratory testing included in-situ moisture content and dry density, swell - consolidation characteristics and water soluble sulfate concentration determination. The results of the laboratory tests are included on the Log of Boring, Figure 2, presented graphically on Figure 3 and summarized on Table 1. Testing was performed in general accordance with American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) procedures. MOISTURE CONTENT AND DRY DENSITY Samples were tested for moisture content and dry density near the anticipated foundation depth. Testing was performed in general accordance with AASHTO T 265. City of SWELL -CONSOLIDATION Wheat Ridge A Swell -consolidation test was performed on a sample near anticipated fu ngrvision bearing depth. The material tested consisted of the upper level silty sand. The swell consolidation test was run to determine the compressibility and/or swell characteristics of 6480 W. 31" Avenue, Wheat Ridge, Colorado, WesTest Project No. 610818, August 9, 2018 2 the sample under loading and when submerged in water. The sample was placed in a confining ring; a surcharge load of 500 psf applied, and allowed to consolidate before being submerged. The sample height was monitored and recorded until deformation stopped under each load increment. The results of the swell -consolidation test is presented on Figure 3. This graph shows the final strain at each load increment versus the log of the pressure. Based on this test result, the silty sand indicates moderate consolidation when subjected to water. WATER SOLUBLE SULFATE CONCENTRATION A sample taken near anticipated foundation depth was tested for water soluble sulfate concentration to determine if sulfate resistant concrete will be required for concrete exposed to soil. FOUNDATION RECOMMENDATIONS SPREAD FOOTING AND/OR ISOLATED PADS Based on the consolidation characteristics, penetration resistance, density and moisture content of the silty sand encountered at foundation bearing depth, it is recommended the addition be founded on a continuous spread footing and/or isolated pad foundation system placed on this soil. Spread footing and/or isolated pad foundations may be designed for an allowable bearing pressure of 1,000 psf. Anticipated settlement at this bearing pressure should be less than 1 inch with differential settlement 1/2 to 3/ this amount. Spread footings should have a minimum footing width of 18 inches for continuous footings and 24 inches for isolated pads. Foundations should have adequate soil cover to protect them from frost heave damage, a minimum of 36 inches below finished grade. The lateral resistance of a spread footing placed on silty sand will be a combination of the sliding resistance of the footing on the bearing materials and passive earth pressure against the side of the footing. Resistance to sliding at the bottom of footings can be calculated based on a coefficient of friction of 0.32 for the granular soil. Passive pressure against the sides of the footings can be calculated using an equivalent fluid unit weight of 200 pcf. These values are working values. It is important the footings placed for the new addition does not undermine the existing structure's foundation. The bottom of the new footing should be above a line drawn from the bottom of the existing structure down at a 45 degree angle (zone of influence). A representative of the geotechnical engineer should observe the excavation after overexcavation and test the material for compaction during replacement. GROUNDWATER CONSIDERATIONS DURING CONSTRUCTION As previously noted the groundwater level one day after drilling was 8' 7" below grade. Water levels will fluctuate due to seasonal variations, precipitation and irrigation. It is city of estimated this depth to water is approximately two feet below the proposed bottom o6eat Ridge footing for the addition. The owner should understand the possibility of, and the building contractor should be made aware of, the possibility that unstable soils may be Building Division encountered at footing depth and dewatering may be required during construction. If 6480 W. 31" Avenue, Wheat Ridge, Colorado, WesTest Project No. 610818, August 9, 2018 3 groundwater or unstable soil is encountered during construction we should be contacted to provide additional guidance regarding dewatering and soil stabilization. INTERIOR DRAIN AND SLAB ON GRADE CONSTRUCTION Due to the proximity of groundwater to the anticipated lower level finished elevation an interior drain is recommended. Figure 4 provides the Details of Drain System recommended for this addition. Slabs should be separated from all bearing members and utility lines to allow their independent movement. The interior slab should be placed on a vapor barrier overlying clean rock as outlined in the Drain System Details, Figure 4. Joints should be scored in the slab at maximum 100 square foot areas. Flexible connectors should be provided for utility lines. SITE GRADING AND TRENCH BACKFILL Fill and backfill in structural support areas should be placed in maximum 8 -inch loose lifts and compacted to a minimum of 95% of standard Proctor density, ASTM D 698. The moisture content for the on-site soil should be maintained within 3 percent of optimum. Compaction tests should be performed to verify compliance with these recommendations. Fill and backfill placed in non-structural support areas should be compacted to a minimum of ninety percent of standard Proctor density, ASTM D 698, within 3% of optimum moisture. It is important basement walls be adequately braced prior to any backfill compaction. Final grade should be established to slope away from the structure a minimum of 10% for the first 10 feet. Downspouts and sill cocks should discharge onto splash blocks that extend beyond the limits of the backfill. CONCRETE Concrete which comes in contact with soil can be subject to sulfate attack. Water soluble sulfate concentration, listed in Table 2, was less than 0.1 percent. This concentration classifies as negligible in accordance with the Portland Cement Association and Type I cement may be used. However, it is recommended a Type I/II cement be used in all concrete that comes in contact with soil. GEOTECHNICAL RISK City of The concept of risk is an important aspect of any geotechnical evaluation. The primaWheat Ridge reason for this is that the analytical methods used to develop geotechnical recommendations do not comprise an exact science. The analytical tools whi@kilding Division geotechnical engineers use are generally empirical and must be tempered with 6480 W. 31" Avenue, Wheat Ridge, Colorado, WesTest Project No. 610818, August 9, 2018 4 engineering judgment and experience. Therefore, the solutions or recommendations presented in any geotechnical evaluation should not be considered risk-free and, more importantly, are not a guarantee that the interaction between the soils and proposed construction will perform as desired or intended. What the engineering recommendations presented in the preceding sections do constitute is our best estimate, based on information generated during this and previous evaluations and our experience working with these conditions, of those measures that are necessary to help the construction perform in a satisfactory manner. The developer, builder, and owner must understand this concept of risk, as it is they who must decide the acceptable level of risk for the proposed construction. DESIGN CONSULTATION AND CONSTRUCTION OBSERVATION This report has been prepared for the exclusive purpose of providing geotechnical design criteria for the proposed project in accordance with generally accepted geotechnical engineering practices. No other warranty, expressed or implied, is made. In the event any changes in the nature or design of the project are planned, the conclusions and recommendations contained in this report shall not be considered applicable unless the changes are reviewed and conclusions of this report modified or verified in writing. It is recommended that we be provided the opportunity for a general review of the final design and specifications. It is also recommended that we be retained to provide geotechnical services during construction of the project. This is to observe the construction with respect to the geotechnical recommendations or specifications and to allow design changes in the event that subsurface conditions differ from those anticipated prior to the start of construction. LIMITATIONS The borings were drilled at the locations indicated on the Boring Location Plan. Variations in the subsoil conditions not indicated by our borings are possible. The construction of footings and compaction of fill beneath footings, slabs or as backfill should be inspected and tested by representatives of our office. We believe this investigation was performed in a manner consistent with the level of care and skill ordinarily used by geotechnical engineers practicing in this area at this time. No other warranty, expressed of implied, is made. If we can be of further assistance in discussing the contents of this report, or in the analyses of the subsurface conditions on the design of the structure, please contact us at your convenience. A filter is required for each return—air inlet. Airflow performance includes a 3/4—in. (19 mm) washable filter media such as contained in a factory—autho- rized accessory filter rack. See accessory list in Product Data sheet. To determine airflow performance withoutthis filter, assume an additional 0.1 in. w.c. available external static pressure. 2. ADJUST THE BLOWER SPEED TAPS AS NECESSARY FOR THE PROPER AIR TEMPERATURE RISE FOR EACH INSTALLATION. 3. The "Function" column identifies with speed taps can be used for heating. Shaded areas indicate that this airflow range is BELOW THE RANGE ALLOWED FOR HEATING OPERATION. THESE AIRFLOW RANGES MAY ONLY BE USED FOR COOLING. 4. If the same motor speed tap is needed for heating and cooling, a Jumper Wire accessory kit is available, see Product Data sheet for the current Jumper Wire accessory part number. Reference the "Start—up, Adjustments, and Safety Check' section of the installation instructions for further Jumper Wire in- structions. 5. Airflows over 1800 CFM require bottom return, two—side return, or bottom and side return. A minimum filter size of 20" x 25" (508 x 635 mm) is required. 6. For upflow applications, air entering from one side into bolls the side of the furnace and a return air base counts as a side and bottom return. 7. The"—" entry indicates an unstable operating condition. City of Wheat Ridge Building Division CNPVP, CNRVP, CNPVT, CNRVT, CNPVU, CNRVU Evaporator Coil Carrier N Coil — Cased and Uncased Upflow, Downflow CN(P,R) VP CN(P,R)VT (Transition) CN(P,R) VU Product Data This vertical design N -coil is a furnace coil designed to provide the highest standards of reliability and durability. The coils are available for use in PuronO, the environmentally -friendly refrigerant, and R-22 systems. Both designs have a painted case (taupe metallic) and come with factory -installed thermostatic expansion valves (TXV). The coils are offered in different width configurations for use in multiple installation applications. Additionally, they are offered in a transition configuration, a design which simplifies making field -supplied transition duct configurations. Easy maintenance is provided as the coil slides out of the cabinet after removing the access door and service panel. The coils are available in sizes 018 through 060 (1-1/2 to 5 tons). Transition coil models CNPVT and CNRVT are designed for use A0600e with one size smaller width furnaces without field modifications. CN(P,R)VP and CN(PR)VT are available in tin-plated copper coil models. These coils are built with special hairpins which are tin-plated to resist both general pitting corrosion and excessive indoor corrosion -Formicary Corrosion. (Formicary Corrosion is an industry phenomenon.) STANDARD FEATURES Water Management -These coil designs do an excellent job of water management. The coils are designed to avoid water blow -off into the ducts by directing condensate away from the fins and into the drain pan. Durable Condensate Pan — Each coil is equipped with a corrosion -resistant condensate drain pan. The condensate drain pan is designed with a slope to help ensure proper drainage, improved moisture removal, and home comfort. Compact Design — Unique design offers as much as 2-4 in. less in height to aid in tight installations. A06007 Brass Inserts — Every condensate pan features two 3/4 in. female threaded brass insert connections. The unique brass inserts provide for a leak -free condensate line connection to prevent water damage. Refrigerant Connections — The coils are provided with proven sweat -connections for leak -free operation maintaining system reliability. Burst Pressures — These coils meet or exceed burst pressure of 2100 psi which is at least three to five times the pressure they will see in actual application. Thermostatic Expansion Valves (TXV) — All Carder coils have refrigerant -specific factory -installed TXVs. City of Teflon Ring — The ring, installed inside the liquid line connection at the TXV, is the best option for wR'-3ttaRidge refrigerant leaks and future service calls. Teflon works with both Puron® and R-22 refrigerants. Building Division A06004 PERFORMANCE DATA (CONT.) COIL STATIC PRESSURE DROP (IN. WC.)
