Asphalt shingles are required to be fastened to the roof deck with a minimum of 6 nails per shingle. Ice and water shield is required. Eave and rake metal is required. A ladder extending 3 feet above the roof eave and secured in place is required to be provided for all roof inspections. Roof ventilation is required to comply with applicable codes and/or manufacturer installation instructions, whichever is more stringent. We examined the attic to see the roof sup- ports, the house for existing drywall cracks or other evidence of movement and the exterior to see if there were large deposits of leaves and other material that accumulate in the valleys. There are always areas that are not observable and we attempted to determine the framing method in those locations. Please note, anytime you reroof there is a rapid change of loading as the old roof is removed and the new roof installed. This change in loading, movement of materials and men, and the pounding that occurs, can cause small drywall cracks. These are not structural. If you ob- serve any cracking, please call our office so we can make sure that there is nothing else that may have occurred. There was no significant storage in the attic space. It is assumed that no additional storage will be done in the attic. Loading the bottom chord of trusses can change their behavior.
