I have evaluated the roof system at the above-mentioned address to determine
its capacity with the addition solar panels. the following criteria were used in my
analysis to determine the loading and structural capacity of existing framing.

The existing trusses were then evaluated based on their span, pitch, depth,
framing member size (2x4 DFL trusses @24" o.c.), and attachment to sheathing.
Trusses were analyzed under the following loads.
Dead load of panels at each attachment point: 24.64 lbs
Snow load + Dead load per attachment point: 376.64 lbs

I. Solar panels should be mounted to rails in accordance with the most
recent "Ironridge Installation Manual" which is found (http:\\ironridge. com\)
At rail ends near panel array edge zones, solar panels supports should be attached
attached to trusses to at each rail. At interior points, rail supports may
be attached to trusses in a staggered pattern with no more than 48" between
support points along a single rail.
2. Solar panels shall be attached to trusses using a 5/16" diameter lag screw.
The allowable pullout per lag screw is 258 lbs/inch as identified in the
NDS (National Design Standards. Penetration of the lag screw shall be a minimum
of 2 1/2" inches into each truss.
3. Roof Pitch, member sizes, and geometric data for this analysis was obtained from
a site survey conducted by Duncan Twyman of Empire Solar Group acting under
my responsible charge. Satellite aerial imagery, and topographical site information
from other sources also provided geometrical data used in this evaluation.
I provide my certification as a licensed engineer registered in this state that
this structure has the capacity to resist the additional loads, and the altered
loading scenario induced with the attachment of this solar array. If you have

12. ALL FIELD -INSTALLED JUNCTION, PULL, AND OUTLET BOXES
LOCATED BEHIND MODULES SHALL BE ACCESSIBLE DIRECTLY OR
BY DISPLACEMENT OF A MODULE SECURED BY REMOVABLE
FASTENERS.

1. WIRING MATERIALS SHALL COMPLY WITH MAXIMUM CONTINUOUS

GROUPED. THE MEANS OF IDENTIFICATION SHALL BE PERMITTED
BY SEPARATE COLOR -CODING, MARKING TAPE, TAGGING OR
OTHER APPROVED MEANS
4. ALL EXTERIOR CONDUIT, FITTINGS, AND BOXES SHALL BE
RAIN -TIGHT AND APPROVED FOR USE IN WET LOCATIONS.
5. ALL METALLIC RACEWAYS AND EQUIPMENT SHALL BE BONDED
AND ELECTRICALLY CONTINUOUS.
6. WHERE SIZES OF JUNCTION BOXES, RACEWAYS, AND CONDUITS
ARE NOT SPECIFIED, CONTRACTOR SHALL SIZE THEM ACCORDING
TO APPLICABLE CODES.
7. REMOVAL OF A UTILITY -INTERACTIVE INVERTER OR OTHER
EQUIPMENT SHALL NOT DISCONNECT THE BUILDING CONNECTION
BETWEEN THE GROUNDING ELECTRODE CONDUCTOR AND THE PV
SOURCE AND/OR OUTPUT CIRCUIT GROUNDED CONDUCTOR.
8. FOR GROUNDED SYSTEMS, THE PHOTOVOLTAIC SOURCE AND
OUTPUT CIRCUITS SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH A GROUND -FAULT
PROTECTION DEVICE OR SYSTEM THAT DETECTS A GROUND
FAULT, INDICATES THAT FAULT HAS OCCURED, AND
AUTOMATICALLY DISCONNECTS ALL CONDUCTORS OR CAUSES
THE INVERTER TO AUTOMATICALLY CEASE SUPPLYING POWER TO
OUTPUT CIRCUITS.
9. FOR UNGROUNDED SYSTEMS, THE INVERTER IS EQUIPPED WITH
GROUND FAULT PROTECTION AND A GFI FUSE PORT FOR GROUND
FAULT INDICATION.
10. PV MODULE FRAMES SHALL BE BONDED TO RACKING RAIL OR
BARE COPPER GEC/EGC PER THE MODULE MANUFACTURER'S
LISTED INSTRUCTION SHEET.
11. PV MODULE RACKING RAIL SHALL BE BONDED TO BARE COPPER
G.E.C. VIA WEEB LUG, ILSCO GBL-4DBT LAY -IN LUG, OR
EQUIVALENT LISTED LUG.
12. THE PHOTOVOLTAIC INVERTER WILL BE LISTED AS UL 1741
COMPLIANT.
13. RACKING AND BONDING SYSTEM TO BE UL2703 RATED.
14. ANY REQUIRED GROUNDING ELECTRODE CONDUCTOR WILL BE
CONTINUOUS, EXCEPT FOR SPLICES OR JOINTS AT BUSBARS

Midroof & Final Roof inspections for ROOFS 6/12 PITCH & OVER: 3rd party inspection will be
required for both the midroof and final inspections. The 3rd party inspection report AND
THE ORIGINAL PERMIT CARD needs to be dropped off to the Permit Desk at the City of Wheat
Ridge. The report MUST BE SIGNED by the Homeowner.
REGARDING ROOF VENTILATION: Roof ventilation shall comply with IBC Sec. 1203.2 or IRC Sec.
R806. The installation of ridge venting requires the installation or existence of soffit
venting. For calculation purposes, one hat or turtle vent equal to one-half of one square
foot of opening.
Effective December 1, 2014, asphalt shingle installations require an approved midroof
inspection, conducted when 25-75 percent of the roof covering is installed, prior to final
approval. Installation of roof sheathing (new or overlay) is required on the entire roof
when spaced or board sheathing with ANY gap exceeding one half inch exists. Sheathing and
mid -roofs may be called in at the same time, one hundred percent of the sheathing must be
complete and 25-75 percent of the mid -roof may be complete. Asphalt shingles are required
to be fastened to the roof deck with a minimum of 6 nails per shingle. Ice and water shield
is required. Eave and rake metal is required. A ladder extending 3 feet above the roof eave
and secured in place is required to be provided for all roof inspections. Roof ventilation
is required to comply with applicable codes and/or manufacturer installation instructions,
whichever is more stringent. In order to pass a final inspection of elastomeric or similar
type roof coverings, a letter of inspection and approval from the manufacturer technical
representative stating that "the application of the roof at (project address) has been
applied in accordance with the installation instruction for (roof material brand name) roof
covering" is required to be on site at the time of final inspection.

This application is exclusively for new permits for residential roofs and for licensed
contractors only. This type of permit is ONLY being processed online --do not come
to City Hall to submit an application in person. Permits are processed and issued in
the order they are received and due to the volume of requests, time to process
varies and is subject to change. YOU WILL BE CONTACTED WHEN YOUR

1/We agree to retain A Better Roofer (contractor) to repair/replace the damaged or entire portion ofthe property described on this contract contingent upon the contractor obtaining my insurance company's
approval and payment to have said work completed. It is agreed that the contractor is empowered to contact my insurance carrier and to meet with their representative in order to negotiate the amount of
damage, the cost of the repair or replacement of the damage to the above property. Upon the insurance carrier agreement with the contractor and the down payment being made the work will he scheduled
and may begin on a fust in first out basis.
Checks shall be made payable to A Better Roofer.
In the event that the insurance carrier fails to negotiate in a fair and reasonable manner, the contractor shall not be held liable and this agreement will be void. The contractor will release the complete
file to the Commissioner of Insurance at the customer's request.
Insured out of pocket expense will not exceed the insured (purchaser) policy deductible for the work agreed upon between the insurance carver and the contractor. Insured also agrees to provide all the
necessary documentation for the claim (including documentation to facilitate payment from insurance carrier and/or mortgage holder). The contractor reserves the right to file for supplemental claims
due to material and/or labor increases due to a storm environment or to insurance adjusters mistakes, errors or onissions.
