Effective December 1, 2014, asphalt shingle installations require an approved midroof
inspection, conducted when 25-75 percent of the roof covering is installed, prior to final
approval. Installation of roof sheathing (new or overlay) requires an approved inspection
prior to installation of ANY roof coverings and is require on the entire roof when spaced
or board sheathing with ANY gap exceeding k/2 -inch exists. Asphalt shingles are required to
be fastened to the roof deck with a minimum of 6 nails per shingle. Ice and water shield is
required. Eave and rake metal is required. A ladder extending 3 feet above the roof eave
and secured in place is required to be provided for all roof inspections. Roof ventilation
is required to comply with applicable codes and/or manufacturera€Tms installation
instructions, whichever is more stringent. In order to pass a final inspection of
elastomeric or similar type roof coverings, a letter of inspection and approval from the
manufacturer's technical representative stating that "the application of the roof at
(project address) has been applied in accordance with the installation instruction for
(roof material brand name) roof covering" is required to be on site at the time of final
inspection.

1.0 INTRODUCTION
This report provides infort-nation regarding an asbestos building materials survey performed on an 976 square
foot home built in 1939 that is scheduled for renovation located at 5280 4111 Street, Wheat Ridge, Colorado
80212-7320.
A visual inspection of the building was performed and bulk samples of materials suspected of containing
materials acquired. The condition of the materials was assessed to determine estimates of the quantities of those
suspect materials to discern if they were below the trigger level of a 55 gallon drum, 32 square feet, or 50 linear
feet on piping.
The inspection consisted of any and all material that could be found with visual inspection that might contain
asbestos and would be disturbed during the remodeling project. This single family residence will undergo
modernization and improvement; so the inspection was not limited to damaged material, but to all targeted
material of the renovation project.
2.1 FRIABLE HOMOGENEUOUS SURFACING MATERIALS NOTED
There were three different surfacing materials that are friable in this house that would be impacted by the
proposed renovation project.
I . Type A-- General. Original Plaster and finish sin coat—Present in the living room and dining room,
and bedroom/bathroom access area (everywhere in original upstairs ceilings and walls) (rough). Lab
results indicate that this material contains no asbestos. The wall that will be removed between the living
room and kitchen was tested on both sides and each side tested negative for asbestos. (see attached lab
results).
2. Type 13—The Walls in the bedroom on east side of the west wall. Lab results indicate that this material
contains no asbestos,
3. Type C ----The downstairs wall that will be removed. Lab results indicate that this material contains no
asbestos.
*The materials were, tested in the specific areas where they will be will removed for the purpose of this
inspection. Wherever this material is found, regardless of location, this material can be removed without
concern for asbestos, as it has been established that these tested materials are asbestos free.
2. ASBESTOS CONTAINING MATERIALS FOUND BY LAB RESULTS.
There, is duct work in places, cumulative below 32 square feet. This material is in the heating registers
(boots) and seams on two ducts.
3.0 MATERIALS ASSUMED TO CONTAIN ASBESTOS BUT NOT TESTED AT LAB
Common asbestos non friable materials like window caulking, floor tile, and asphalt impregnated roofing
materials are assumed to be non friable asbestos materials. These materials are permitted to remain when the
house is renovated as they are considered to be non friable. (REG 8, The Control of Asbestos, Pall B.
Details of this survey and analysis follow. Please refer to the Bulk Sample Data Table for a summary of the
laboratory analysis results.
4.0 INSPECTION RATIONALE
According to Federal EPA NESHAP regulations, and State of Colorado, CDPHE Regulation 8, The Control of
Asbestos, Part B residential buildings that have suspect asbestos containing materials in excess of 32 square
feet, 50 linear feet on pipe, or 35 cubic feet (one 55 -gallon drum in Colorado) require that an inspection be
performed prior to demolition.
The EPA AHERA regulation contains inspection protocol, and is considered to be the state of the art method for
performing building inspections for asbestos found contained in building materials. This inspection was
performed according to those protocols.
All samples were acquired in a random manner that represented the overall content of the materials sampled. A
narrative description of the sampled materials and their relative locations is contained in the Bulk Sample Data
Tables. In addition, a copy of the River North Environmental "Testing laboratory report is attached.
5.0 LEAD PAINT
Please review the lead based paint survey, dated June 15, 2015.
6.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RE COMMENDATIONS
There was no asbestos containing surfacing material found in this house in the locations that will be
disturbed during the proposed remodeling.
There is 8-14 feet of duct wrap on five heating registers and two sections of ducts have duct taped
seams. This material is below the CDPHE mandated trigger level of 32 square feet and is not regulated.
The nine inch the was assumed to be asbestos containing but both the brown and tan the in the basement
contains no asbestos. However tile is considered to be non friable asbestos containing material, and is
addressed in the CDPHE Regulation 8, The Control of Asbestos, Part B, Appendix B.
Cumulatively this material that will be disturbed, duct wrap, is not more than 32 square feet. The asbestos in
this house is not regulated by the CDPHE if less than 32 square feet are disturbed. However, in a well reasoned
opinion., notwithstanding the CDPHE mandated trigger level, the CDPHE and this building inspector would
like to see all asbestos containing material removed by CDPHE certified personnel trained in asbestos
removal. Please read CDPFIE Regulation 8, The Control of Asbestos, Part B, Appendix A.
In addition the waste should be taken to a regulated landfill and proof of this in the form of a waste manifest be
maintained in the project records.
There may be materials under the ones tested. The walls were systematically sampled but no such materials
were found during the inspection. That does not eliminate the possibility of some asbestos materials having
been overlooked or there being other asbestos containing; materials somewhere in the building;.
7.0 INSPECTION AND SURVEY FINDINGS/RECOMMENDATIONS
At the time of inspection, a total of twelve suspect materials were discovered and documented. All of the
suspect materials were assumed to be asbestos containing. Samples were acquired of all of the suspect
materials and submitted for analysis. Following is a list of those suspect materials and the finding of the two
NVL.AP testings agencies.
