Fusilier, The City of Wheat Tcidg ~ ,b~ f04 On March 23, 2000 the final inspection for framing on the addition and garage at 10645 West 46`b Avenue was completed. The addition and garage have now completed tkre building portion of the inspection process. However, a certificate of occupancy may not be issued until all requirements of the issued permit are met. Snecifically, the driveway to the gazage must be hard surfaced. As part of the approved plans, a hazd surface driveway was required. The driveway was required to be hazd surface for a distance of 25 feet from the edge of pavement of a public streei into the property and paved to a width no less than 20 feet. This requirement is found zn Section 26-30(N) of the Wheat Ridge Code of Laws. The carinent driveway surface is stone aggregate. Unfoctunately, stone aggregate does not meet the standard for a hard surface driveway. An acceptable hard surface is either asphalt, coiicrete, or interlocking driveway pavers. Therefore, I am requesting that a hard surfaced driveway be constructed in order to close out your permit. [ understand the Wheatridge Code of Laws Section 26-30(N) requires a hazd surface for a distance of 25 feet &om the edge of a public street, however I feel it is non- typical in my neighborhood. . Srone aggregate would still be required for the remaining distance to [he garage. 2. There are no existing curbs, gutters, or sidewalks on W zst 46ih Avenuc between Miiler Sveet and Oak Streer, my property is located batween the two. i. The existing driveway to my property has always been some type of stone aggregare. 4. 1 he 5 or 6 homes in my neighborhood that do have hard surface driveways from Wesc 46`" Avenue are either less t4an 25 feet or are hard surface from garage and/or parking area to stone aggregate, then to stree[. 5. West 46" Avenue between Miller Stxeet and Oak Street is convex, allowing water to drain utto gravel driveways and not pool and freeze into a icy slab in the winter. 6. My property would be the only house on the block with hard surface all the way to the pavement. The first time a snowplow comes down Wes[ 46`6 Avenue in my neighborhood, my hard surface would be ripped out of the ground at the street. 7. I dodt want a hard surface driveway; recent additions on my stree[ have not been required to have hard surface or have not complied with code.
