Pavilion Site Prep Information If you are buying a pavilion, it is very important that you have a solid and LEVEL foundation. Here are a few options that we recommend. If you have a paver patio, take out the pavers at each post location and put in concrete pylons, making the top of the concrete level with the bottom of the pavers so you can then fill in the pavers around the post. Note: If your finished concrete pad or patio will be sloped, remember that the elevation chart starts at the top of your pylons. Double check to make sure you have enough clearance under the beam. You may need to add extra length to the posts. Use the diagram and the chart below to determine the placement of the posts and also overall measurements. Concrete Pylons 1. Dig 16" diameter and 36" deep holes (or frost level, whichever is deeper) at each post location. 2. Beginning at the grounds highest point, plant 16" Quick -Form tubes making sure the top of each tube is LEVEL with all the rest. 36" 3. Use rebar as needed. 4. Getting Started Thank you for your purchase from Amish Country Gazebos. Your well -assembled pavilion will bring you and your family decades of enjoyment. Please read the entire assembly manual before starting to assemble. These instructions can be used for any size vinyl pavilion. A 12' x 16' was used for these instructions. It took 4 experienced installers approximately 8 hours to complete assembly. Unless your pavilion is square, start along one of the longer sides. Layout 2 posts. Place the bottom end of posts near the place they should be when the pavilion is completed. 3 Slide the correct post trim onto the posts. Be sure to have the correct amount of pieces and have them turned the right way. It is very hard to correct this later! 2 Be sure the notch on post is turned up and toward outside of pavilion. Note: Put cardboard under the post to keep the vinyl from being scratched. Be headers. Lay it with the top side sure to have the correct brace on each facing down. Place an arched brace on end. each end. 3 Align arched brace with header on post end. 5 Place the header with braces attached onto the posts. 4Center the brace on header. Do not use the 2 outside holes, they are used at a later time. 9Fasten arched brace to post using ' 2-1/2" screws through pre -drilled holes in plywood. 11 . You are now ready to "set up" post and header assembly. $Fasten through pre -drilled holes in ' top of header using 3-1/2" screws. Fasten through pre -drilled holes on 1 O' inside of arched brace using 3-1/2" screws. 12. You may need to brace the assembly so it does not fall over. Make an "A" frame using 8' long 2"x4"'s to keep it upright. Measure the distance between the two header assemblies. Adjust the distance between headers as needed so the connecting header will fit. 15. Lift the connecting header into place. 16. Temporarily fasten rafter plate to header using a 3-1/2" screw at each end (this is not pre -drilled). 2 Lift a rafter plate onto the header. 4. Measure the reveal on the inside and adjust as needed so it is equal at both ends. 6. Adjust as needed and fasten plate to header using two 3-1/2" screws. $Fasten the two faceboards with two ' 2-1/2" white screws (this is not pre- drilled). 10. Fasten bracket to rafter plate using 1-1/4" screws in the pre- drilled holes. Install rafter bracket in each corner. 4. There are left and right side hip rafters. The hip rafters are cut to meet at the top. Be sure to have the correct rafter for each corner. 6. Be sure to have a washer on each end of bolt. Thread a nut onto bolt and tighten only -to be fully tigh ned> later. �. Installing Rafters (continued) 7Fasten hip rafter to rafter plate using ' two 2-1/2" screws in pre -drilled holes. Install remaining double hip rafters. 9 Next, install the center long rafters (rafters that reach the top ridge of roof). Fasten from the top down using a 11 . 2-1/2" screw through pre -drilled hole. Attach each piece with approximately five of the provided 3/a" roofing nails or with your own power nailer, making sure the nails do not protrude through the underside of the tongue and groove boards. 5� Use a shingle scissors or utility knife to cut along the seam. City of Wheat Ridge Applying Ridge Caps 1 Make your ridge cap shingles by cutting a 3 tab shingle into three individual pieces. 3 Center the first ridge cap on the roof corner seam and extend it approximately 4" below the point of the corner. Fasten it with one roofing nail on each side about 2" up from the roof edge. Cut the ridge cap parallel with the bottom edge of the architectural shingle. 5 The bottom corners of the third ridge cap should be about even with the roof edge. Install the rest of the ridge caps, centered on the roof seam, and keep them a little below the tar line, even with the small cutout at the side of the ridge cap. 2 Turn the shingle over to expose the reverse side.
