Installation of roof sheathing (new or overlay) is required on the entire roof when spaced or board sheathing with ANY gap exceeding one half inch exists. These panels replace an existing solar hot water system. The rafters are pitched at a 2 in 12 slope. The solar collectors are installed at a 45 degree angle from horizontal using the manufacturer's mounting brackets and support legs. There are four (4) universal foot mounts per panel fastened to the existing rafters with (1-318" dia. x 3 518" long lag screw at each foot mount. It is the professional opinion of our office that the panel connection to the existing roof rafters is adequate to support code required loadings.
