Upon inspection in the attic cavity, there was approximately 6 inches of blown in insulation (assumed R-3.5/in = R value of 21). Energy code (2012 IECC) for a Re -roof stipulates R-38, R-49 for new construction. The home was approximately R-17 short. To the best of their recollection, the homeowners informed us it was a low -sloped roof. As we were in long negotiations regarding the HVAC unit, we decided to avoid core samples until closer to tear-off/approval. Upon tear -off, the previous roof hade a .10/12 slope. We ordered a taper system of .25/12 for positive flow, giving us .35/12 for the facet. I've attached the suppliers invoices. Four inches of Poly -ISO were added to the deck, then tapered over. One -Quarter inch primed Dens Deck were fastened with 16 three-inch bar plates with varying length of fasteners from 4" to 7" as the taper required in the field, and 24 around the perimeter. Carlyle TPO was adhered and run up the adjoining slopes 3 ft; it was terminated on the downslope with termination bar over the last course of shingles. Seams were all welded/checked. No flashings, boots were reused. The final corrections regarding the exposed nail heads were made as well to the asphalt portions of the roof. Installation of roof sheathing (new or overlay) is required on the entire roof when spaced or board sheathing with ANY gap exceeding one half inch exists.
