At your request, Ascent Group, Inc. has reviewed the proposed cut -in window opening and has confirmed the
following existing conditions via discussions with, and photos from, your office.
• Existing Building is one-story with Pre -Engineered steel roof frames and CMU exterior non-
bearing walls.
• New window Lintel will support 12ft of CMU block wall including permit
• Wall reinforcing reportedly consists of equally spaced #5 full height verticals with regularly
spaced horizontal mortar bed wire reinforcing
• Proposed opening is to be cut into non-bearing CMU wall below bearing steel beam
• New opening will be maximum 40" wide
Based upon this information an L4x3xl/4" LLV lintel may be used on the inside of the block wall as a lintel for the
opening. It should extend at least 6" beyond the opening and should be connected to each block is supports with
5/8"diameter screened epoxy anchors in hollow cells or expansion anchors in grouted cells. In addition new
window frame should be non -shrink grouted to underside of exposed CMU.

After a review of the submitted plans concerning the remodel
of Lutheran Medical Center/Lutheran Home Care Institute located at
3945 Youngfield Street, I am submitting the following comments and
requirements concerning this project:
1. Provide complete plans for revision of fire sprinkler system
for approval prior to construction.
2. Provide complete installation of fire alarm detection system
through out entire occupancy. System must be addressable type
and must be monitored on a 24 hour basis by an off site
agency.
3. Plans for the fire alarm system must be submitted and approved
prior to installation. System must be compliant with NFPA 72.
4. Install magnetic hold open devices on all corridor doors that
management feels needs to be normally open. Units must be
connected to the fire alarm system.

After a review of the proposed remodel for Lutheran Homecaze Retail-Phase 1, I am
submitting the following information /requirements concerning this project:
1. The new door that is to be placed in the west wall will need to be a 1 hour rated door and
assembly.
2. The door that accesses the wazehouse will need to be changed to a 1 hour rated door in
order to maintain seperation between the office/sales area.
3. Should Homecare stay in this facility through the year 1998, commencing January of 1999
the cunent fire alarm system will be required to be extended to cover the entire faciliry
with detection devices throughout.
