Colorado 80033 RE: Structural Review of Kitchen Remodel Project No.: 777-16-123 Dear Mr. & Mr. Stites; Paramount Engineering, Inc. has reviewed the kitchen remodel that was performed without a permit, stopped by the City of Wheat Ridge. Our review of the proposed work was related to the new 2-9 ',T' LVL beam supporting the roof over the new kitchen granite counter, The review was based on a visual review of the current site conditions and the finished structure. If the City requires a visual review of the framing, the Contractor is aware that the finish may be required to Ise removed to verify acceptable construction techniques. The 2-9 LVL header, currently spanning 13' clear is not sufficient to support the roof. We recommend that the header, currently supported on each end with 2-20 (North end) and the existing masonry pocket (South end) be supported by a new 40 wood post placed at the end of the counter, resulting in spans of 4' and 9' respectively. The new support and the support on the North end shall be blocked solid through the floor to new 2-2x4 -wood studs bearing on the existing 16" wide x 12" deep concrete footing located in the basement.
