When we inspected the flue pipe in the crawl space we had found that it had been
pushed down into the crawl space approximately 4"(four inches) which incurred the flue
pipe to not have the correct angle away from the furnace and posed another potential
carbon monoxide poisoning condition.
The mechanical code for Colorado states that we need a P (one foot) clearance to the
finished surface for snow load, and the one on your roof only had a 1 " (one inch)
clearance.
TJpon arrival there was a significant amount of condensation and ice on the roof from
the vent not venting the hot flue gas outside of the attic.
I would recommend that a contractor inspect the roof decking for any moisture
damaoe due to the incorrect installation of the roof vent.
For the homeowner to have the heat turned back on we needed to replace the flue pipe
from the furnace in the crawl space tip thru the home and out the roof to a correct height
immediately.
Million Air Mechanical vvas at this residence over the surnrner to inspect the home
I IVAC from the hail storm that came thra the area. At the time there was hail damage to
the flue pipe but not enough to cause it to be replaced at that time. It was acceptable to
replace the flue cap at the time ofthe roof replacement. The flue pipe did exit the roof
Million Air Mechanical was at the residence also to fin comb the A/C condensing unit.
Million Air Mechanical has corrected all flue pipe issues at the enclosed address for any
deficiencies and made all needed repairs/replacements to the mechanical code standards
and for life safety.
Please call me with any questions.
