TITLE: A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2014 CAPITAL
INVESTMENT PROGRAM BUDGET TO REFLECT THE APPROVAL
OF A SUPPLEMENTAL BUDGET APPROPRIATION IN THE
AMOUNT OF $500,000 FOR THE 32N° AVENUE WIDENING
PROJECT
WHEREAS , i n March 2011 , the City was awarded a federal grant for a widening
proj ect on 32 "d Avenue from Braun Court to Wright Court; and
WHEREAS , on November 7, 2012 , Concrete Works of Colorado was awarded a
contact in the amount of $4 ,600 ,776 w ith a contingency of $460 ,000 ; and
WHEREAS , the original contract budget has been exceeded by an estimated
amount of $1 .1 m i llion due to extensive subgrade excavation , reta ining wall redes ign
and additional construction , unforeseen utility relocations, additional temporary signals
and traffic control and additional quantity overruns and work item ; and
WHEREAS , a substantial portion of the budget overage is under dispute
between the contractor and the City; and
WHEREAS , staff is confident that an additional amount of at least $500 ,000 is
legitimate and can be allocated without compromising further negotiations with the
contractor over disputed amounts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Wheat Ridge ,
Colorado , that:
A. The C ity of Wheat Ridge fiscal year 2014 CIP Budget be amended accordingly.
specifically transferring $500 ,000 from General Fund unreserved fund balance to
account number 30-303-800-841 .
