TIT LE: A RESOL U T ION AMENDING TH E FISCAL YEAR 20 14 POLICE
INVESTIGATION FUND BUDGET TO REFLECT THE APPROVAL
OF A SUPPLEMENTAL BUDGET APPROPRIATION IN THE
AMOUNT OF $18,500 TO BE USED FOR SPECI FIC LAW
ENFORCEMENT PURPOSES AS APPROVED B Y THE SEIZ URE
FUND COMMI TTEE
WHERE AS , the Wheat Ridge Charter requires t hat amendments to the budget
be effected by the City Council adopting a resolution .
WHE REAS, the Pol ice Invest igation Fund receives money from both state and
federal civil forfe iture processes; and
WHERE AS, forfeited money, by state and federal statute, can only be used for
spec ific law enforcement purposes; and
WHE REAS, historically, the Po l ice Department has budgeted approxi mately
$25 ,000 per year from the Investigations Fund and the 2014 budgeted amount is only
$6 ,500; and
W HEREAS, the Investigations Fund c urrently has $115,809 in ava ilable funds;
and
W HEREAS, the Police Department has identified projects such as polygraph
equipment upgrades, a document management system compat ible with national
accreditation standards a nd a computer tablet pi lot project to enhance pol ice
operations with a projected cost of $17 ,250; and
WHEREAS, the seizure fund committee has approved all Investigation Fund
expenditures,
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED by the C i ty Counci l of the C i ty o f
Wheat R i dge, Colorado, as follows :
A. T he City Council authorizes a t ransfer of $18 ,500 from the Police
Investigation Fund undesignated reserves to account number 17-202-
800-809 and an amendment of the 201 4 fiscal year budget
accordingly.
