CITIZENS' RIGHT TO SPEAK.
Charles Durbin, 3703 Ames Street, congratulated the newly elected officials and made them
aware of the continued problem with the proposed Walgreens at 38th and Sheridan On
October 28, Scott Wesley presented a petition with 242 signatures opposed to the proposal
The petition was in objection to the proposal at 38th and Sheridan for a Walgreens The
existing businesses that have been there for decades should remain This petition was signed
not only by neighbors, but also citizens in all districts 97% of the people they talked to were
opposed to this proposal and signed the petition He does not believe the Council heard what
they were saying The Council, by a vote of 5-3 passed Resolution 29-2003 and 30-2003
without having real financial figures on paper to go on There are still 3 Councilmembers here
who voted on these Resolutions who could correct that mistake tonight. Anyone of the three
could change their mind and rescind those Resolutions This would be the most prudent thing
the Council could do
Cheri Jahn 3580 High Court, came to help celebrate She congratulated the elected officials
on their victories and some great campaigns run She reminisced about how it was like to be
first elected as a House District 24 Representative She advised to always, no matter what,
represent from your heart and conscience the citizens and the businesses and the constituents
from your district. You will make some really popular votes and some really unpopular votes
But no matter what, you have to stand in your truth and you have to do what your heart and
your gut and your soul tells you to do
