CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE, COLORADO
December 12. 2005
Mayor DiTullio called the Regular City Council Meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Councilmembers
present: Karen Adams, Karen Berry, Dean Gokey, Lena Rotola, Wanda Sang, Larry Schulz,
Mike Stites, and Terry Womble. Also present: City Clerk, Pamela Anderson; City Manager,
Randy Young; City Attorney, Gerald Dahl; Deputy City Manager, Patrick Goff; and interested
citizens.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF November 28. 2005
Motion by Mr. Womble for the approval of the Minutes of November 28, 2005; seconded by
Mr. Stites; carried 8-0.
PROCLAMATIONS AND CEREMONIES
Wheat Ridge Police Chief Daniel Brennan presented a Citizens Award to Lynn Valencia,
Community Relations Representative for 9News, for her assistance in engaging by phone with
a suicidal individual and keeping him calm until police could respond.
City Clerk Pam Anderson read into the record a letter to Chief Dan Brennan from the Wheat
Ridge Fire Department Chief, commending Officers Kyle Eversole and Michelle Abbott for
performing their duties above and beyond what was expected of them and doing so in a cordial
and professional manner.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Motion by Mr. Gokey to pull Item 2 from the Agenda and scheduled for a future Agenda;
seconded by Mrs. Sang; carried 8-0.
Item 1. CONSENT AGENDA:
A. RESOLUTION 56-2005 - A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN
INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE JEFFERSON
COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE FOR TRANSPORTATION OF
PRISONERS OUTSIDE OF THE DENVER METRO AREA.

B. RESOLUTION 57-2005 - A RESOLUTION LEVYING A MILL LEVY
OF 1.786 ON GENERAL PROPERTY TAXES FOR THE YEAR OF
2005, TO HELP DEFRAY THE COSTS OF GOVERNMENT FOR THE
CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE, COLORADO, FOR THE 2006 BUDGET
YEAR.
C. Motion to adopt the 2006 City Council Regular Meeting Calendar.
Consent Agenda was introduced and read by Mr. Stites.
Motion by Mr. Stites for approval of Consent Agenda Items A and B; seconded by Mrs.
Rotola; carried 8-0.
Motion by Mrs. Sang to postpone the 2006 City Council Regular Meeting Calendar to
the December 19, 2005 Study Session for discussion; seconded by Mr. Gokey; carried
5-3, with Mr. Stites, Mrs. Rotola, and Mrs. Adams voting no.
DECISIONS. RESOLUTIONS. AND MOTIONS
Item 3. City Council Appointments to various Metropolitan Boards and Agencies.
Motion by Mrs. Sang to appoint Larry Schulz the City's representative to DRCOG and
Karen Berry as alternate; seconded by Mrs. Rotola; carried 8-0.
Motion by Mrs. Sang to appoint Lena Rotola to serve as the City's representative to the
Jefferson County Housing Authority, seconded by Mr. Schulz; carried 8-0.
Motion by Mrs. Sang to appoint Lena Rotola to serve as the City's representative to the
Jefferson County Community Development Block Grant Committee; seconded by
Mr. Schulz; carried 8-0.
Motion by Mrs. Sang to appoint Janelle Shaver to serve as the City's representative to
the Jefferson County Board of Corrections; seconded by Mr. Womble; carried 8-0.
Motion by Mrs. Sang to appoint Mike Stites to serve as the City's representative to the
Police Seizure Fund; seconded by Mrs. Rotola; carried 8-0.
Motion by Mrs. Sang to appoint Mayor DiTullio to serve as the City's representative to
the Jefferson Economic Council, Mrs. Adams as alternate; seconded by Mr.
Womble; carried 8-0.

ELECTED OFFICIALS' MATTERS
Motion by Mr. Stites to direct staff to prepare an ordinance amending Section 26-707 A of the
Code of laws dealing with non-conforming signs, specifically to clarify how terms used in the
section apply to non-conforming signs. The intent of this amendment is to not require signs to
be brought into conformance with the sign code if the only change is the replacement of a
cabinet on top of an existing structure (usually a pole); seconded by Mrs. Sang; carried 8-0.
Motion by Mrs. Berry to cancel the January 2,2006 Study Session; seconded by Mrs. Rotola;
carried 7-1, with Mr. Gokey voting no.
Meeting adjourned at 7: 18 p.m.
