Public Works has concerns about modifying the inlet from the existing combination curb inlet to the proposed )alley grate without additional information. The existing combination inlet has a 6 throat opening which tends to minimize clogging, and it has different hydraulic characteristics and capacity from the caller inlet. Therefore in order for PW to approve the modification from the existing combination inlet to a valley inlet, a complete basin analcsis and comparison of the two inlets must be performed to ensure the proposed valley inlet would have adequate capacity and will function properly during the minor (5,ear) storm event. The analysis would also need to state what mould occur during the major (100 -tear) event if the valley inlet was employed. Another option would be to leave the existing inlet alone and end the proposed dnvewav curb cut north of the inlet The owner of the subject properh should consider ending the south driveway wing at the north end of the curbing at the existing inlet. This would keep the driveway completely north of the inlet so no drainage anly asis or modifications would be required. It may entail sharing a small portion of the neighbor's driveway, but this choice would be vastk cheaper.
