HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/13/2000LIQUOR LICENSING AUTHORITY MINUTES CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE, COLORADO 7500 W. 29th Avenue, Municipal Building April 13, 2000 The Liquor Authority Meeting was called to order by Chairman Davis at 9.00 am Liquor Authority Members present: Dan Wilde, Robert Alldredge, Frank Sanzalone, Kent Davis, Bill Snell, Judith DiCroce, and Laura Leprino Rocco Gioso was absent due to illness Also present: Deputy City Clerk, Christa Jones, acting as City Attorney, Linda Michow APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF March 23, 2000 Motion by Mr Wilde for the approval of the Minutes of March 23, 2000, seconded by Mrs DiCroce, carried 7-0 Item 1. Application for a Special Events Permit for Wheat Ridge Rotary Club Event to be held at the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center on May 12, 2000 Christa Jones presented the staff report. Walt Pettit, Treasurer for the Rotary Club, was present and explained that this event was a fund raiser for the Rotary Club and the various contributions that the money will be used for The Rotary Club has served drinks before and never had any liquor violations Motion by Mr Wilde to approve the Special Events Permit for the Rotary Club of What Ridge, Colorado, at the location of the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center, 4005 Kipling Street, Wheat Ridge, to dispense malt, vinous and spirituous liquor on May 12, 2000 from 5 00 p m to 1000 p m I further move to authorize the chair to sign the application for the Special Events Permit; seconded by Mr Sanzalone, carried 7-0 Item 2. Set show cause hearing date for alleged liquor violation at Vern's Liquor, 7605 West 44th Avenue, Wheat Ridge Christa Jones presented the staff report. Motion by Mrs DiCroce to order a Show Cause hearing for Vern's Liquor, 7605 West 44th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, regarding an alleged violation of Section 12-47-901 of the Colorado Liquor Code, and to hold the hearing on May 11, 2000 at 9.00 a.m I further move that the city Attorney be directed to prepare the necessary paperwork for a show cause hearing, seconded by Mrs Leprino, carried 7-0 LIQUOR AUTHORITY MINUTES: April 13, 2000 Page -2- Item 3. Set show cause hearing date for alleged liquor violation at Palancar Reef, 4400 Ward Road, Wheat Ridge Christa Jones presented the staff report. Motion by Mrs DiCroce to order a Show Cause Hearing for Palancar Reef, 4400 Ward Road, Wheat Ridge, regarding an alleged violation of Section 12-47-901 of the Colorado Liquor Code, and Section 11-54 of the Wheat Ridge Municipal Code, and to hold the hearing on May 11, 2000 at 9.00 a.m I further move that the City Attorney be directed to prepare the necessary paperwork for a show cause hearing, seconded by Mr Wilde, carried 7-0 Item 4. Presentation by City Attorney regarding Liquor Hearing procedures, followed by question and answer session This was requested by new Liquor Authority members who have attended the State Liquor and Wheat Ridge Police liquor training seminar on Thursday, March 30, 2000 Acting City Attorney, Linda Michow, distributed a memo regarding the conduct of public hearings and various other liquor authority actions She elaborated on that memo and answered questions Mr Davis asked that consensus to adopt guidelines for suspensions be put on the next Liquor Authority Agenda. Motion by Mr Wilde to cancel the April 27, 2000 Liquor Authority meeting, seconded by Mr Sanzalone, carried 7-0 Motion by Mr Snell to adjourn, seconded by Mr. Wilde, carried 7-0 Meeting adjourned at 10 00 a m Christa Jones, Deputy City Clerk APPROVED BY LIQUOR AUTHORITY ON MAY 11, 2000 BY A VOTE OF TO A Kent Davis, Chair
