CALL THE MEETING TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Chairman LANGDON at 7:39 p.m., on March 7, 1996 in the Council Chambers of the..Municipal Building, 7500 West 29th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, Colorado. 2. ROLL CALL; MEMBERS PRESENT: Robert Eckhardt Harry Williams James Owens - Excused Absence Jay Rasplicka - Excused Absence Carl A. Cerveny George Langdon Wallace Crumpton Warren Johnson • STAFF PRESENT: Glen Gidley, Director of Planning & Development Sandra Wiggins, Secretary STUDY SESSION The following is the official copy of Planning Commission minutes for the Study Session of March 7, 1996. A copy of these minutes is retained both in the office of the City Clerk and in the Department of Planning and Development of the City of Wheat Ridge. • • Planning Commission Minutes Page 2 March 7, 1996 3. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE 4. APPROVE THE ORDER OF THE AGENDA Commissioner WILLIAMS moved to approve the agenda for the study session of March 7, 1996 as printed. Commissioner JOHNSON seconded the motion. Motion carried 6-0. 5. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Commissioner WILLIAMS moved to approve the minutes for the meeting of February 15, 1996 as printed. Commissioner CERVENY seconded the motion. Motion carried 4-0, with Commissioners ECKHARDT and CRUMPTON abstaining. 6. PIIBLIC FORUM (This is the time for anyone to speak on any subject not appearing under Item 7 of the Public Hearing section of the agenda.) No one had signed the roster, nor came forward to speak at that time. • 7. PIIBLIC HEARING No cases were scheduled for Public Heariag oa that date. 8. CLOSE THE PIIBLIC HEARING 9. OLD BUSINESS A. Discussion of Definition of the Term "STORY" as Applied to Building Height and Required Yards Mr. Gidley gave a brief overview of this topic, explaining that the Zoning Ordinance currently contained a very broad definition for "STORY". Presently, because of this very "loose" definition, one story can be up to 35 feet in height, he added. Mr. Gidley noted that the old ordinance, allowing a ten-foot story, was problematic because most one-story flat-roof commercial buildings are 12 feet in height. He elaborated. Discussion followed.
