STUDY SESSION NOTES
CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE, COLORADO
October 15. 2007
Mayor DiTullio called the Study Session to order at 6:32p.m. Council Members
present: Karen Adams, Karen Berry, Dean Gokey, Lena Rotola, and Larry
Schulz. Also present: City Clerk, Michael Snow; City Manager, Randy Young;
Deputy City Manager, Patrick Goff; Public Information Officer, Heather Geyer;
and interested citizens.
Council Members absent: Terry Womble, Mike Stites, and Wanda Sang.

Staff Reports
No Staff Report was given.
Item 2.
Outside Agency Reports
a) Wheat Ridge 2020 Update
Rob Osborn provided Council a report of the organization's progress on its
programs. Mr. Osborn made several recommendations for programs and policy
for the Council to consider (see Update included in this packet).
Mrs. Adams asked Council for their level of consensus to ask Staff to prepare for
a future Study Session discussion on potential Trash pickup policies and
programs for the City; consensus was 5-0.
Mr. Gokey shared with Council some ideas and concepts he learned attending
the Infill Development Workshop put on by CML.
Mr. Schulz reported on DRCOG's planned move to their new offices to 1219
Broadway in Denver in the next week. Mr. Schulz also reported the TIP budget
included $2,000,000 for the hook ramps at the 1-70/Hwy. 58 interchange. Mr.
Schulz attended the ribbon cutting of the Signature Center at Denver West, a
building that meets the League Platinum Standards in Green and recycled
material construction. Mr. Schulz reported he is no longer the chairman of the
Transit Alliance after his two-year tenure. He is being replaced by Jason
Longsgarth of Denver.

Item 3.
Seniors' Resource Center Information Presentation
John Zabawa, Executive Director, along with Susan Mittoch, provided Council a
review of the programs and resources provided to the community through the
organization.
Item 4.
Arvada, Wheat Ridge Service Ambassadors for Youth (AWRSA Y)
Curtis Gilmore and Jamie Johnson, members of AWRSAY, provided Council a
review of the mission and services provided to youth in the community.
Item 5.
Jefferson County Housing Authority Homeowner Rehabilitation
Program, Informational Presentation
Alan Feinstein, Executive Director Jefferson County Housing Authority and Doug
Knop, Housing Rehabilitation Specialist provided Council a review of the
Authority's programs and services in Jefferson County. Council asked questions
of Mr. Feinstein and Mr. Knop and discussed the funding mechanisms of the
organization and the history of Wheat Ridge funding.
Mr. Gokey asked Council for a level of consensus to bring to a subsequent Study
Session discussion of possible 2008 budget appropriation for funding of $75,000
from the City of Wheat Ridge to the Jefferson County Housing Authority;
consensus was 5-0.

Guidelines for Elected Official Appearances at Community Events
and Business Ribbon-Cutting Ceremonies
Mr. Young led a brief discussion on the content of the guidelines (included in this
packet).
