CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE, COLORADO
June 4, 2007
Mayor DiTullio called the Study Session to order at 6:30 p.m. Council Members present: Karen Adams, Karen Berry, Lena Rotola, Wanda Sang, Larry Schulz, Mike Stites and Dean Gokey.
Also present: City Clerk, Michael Snow; City Manager, Randy Young; Deputy City Manager, Patrick Goff; Planner, Travis Crane; City Manager’s Assistant, Heather Geyer; staff and interested
citizens.
Terry Womble was absent.
Item 1. Staff Reports
Mr. Young presented Council with a memo regarding a Public Art Action Plan (attached to this packet).
Mr. Goff presented Council with a memo outlining staff’s considerations for Market Adjustments to the City’s Compensation Plan (attached to this packet).
Mr. Goff informed Council that the current date chosen for ??? is Rash Ashana. Staff is looking at other, more appropriate dates for
Mr. Stites July 16th week; July 23rd week for Strategic Planning meeting with June Ramos.
Item 2. Outside Agency Reports
Metro Mayor’s resolution…DiTullio asked for support from Council to ratify
Mr. Schulz reported on RTD’s considerations for alternative vehicle types for …Gold line.
Item 3. Proposed Civic Education and Governance Academy
Item 4. Proposed Civic Engagement Plan and Administrative Guideline for the Civic Engagement Program Policy for Media Relations, Public Relations and Public Information.
Heather Geyer reviewed with Council a presentation of- the City of Wheat Ridge Civic Engagement Plan (attached to this packet).
Item 5. Telecommunications Items
Proposed Ordinance Adopting a Competitive Cable Franchise Application Review and Evaluation Process in Connection with Any Franchise Application.
Heather Geyer reviewed the staff proposed Ordinance. Council will hear the proposed Ordinance at the June 11th, 2007 Council Meeting.
Policy Direction Pertaining to Possible Qwest Cable Franchise.
Heather Geyer led discussion on the City’s considerations and requirements for a second Cable Franchise in Wheat Ridge from Qwest.
Item 6. Televising Addition City Meetings (Boards & Commissions)
Mr. Schulz introduced his thoughts and ideas for televising additional meetings in the City of Wheat Ridge.
Mrs. Geyer presented the findings in a memo to Council outlining the background issues and considerations for adopting a policy of televising more public meetings.
Mr. DiTullio asked Council for consensus to implement Option #2, televising, initially, only Planning Commission meetings; consensus was 4-3.
