Agenda Approval .L Staff Report(s) 2. Strategic Planning/Retreat Preparation ADJOURNMENT .... ~ ~ .( ... City of ~WlieatBi_dge ~OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER Memorandum TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Patrick Goff, City Manager DATE: January 26, 2017 (for January 30, 2017 Study Session) SUBJECT: Vision and Goals The Mayor and several Councilmembers submitted suggested edits and other comments concerning the current City Vision and Goals. Attached is a single document with all the comments and suggestions included and noted in red. To help you understand the attached document, please keep the following in mind: • All suggested changes were included in the attached document using "Tracked Changes" • Suggestions for the simple addition of words or short phrases to the Vision or Goals were directly inserted into the text in red • Suggestions for large rewrites of certain text are noted in a bullet below the item • Suggested deletions of text are noted in a bullet below the item • Most suggestions were cut and pasted directly from the documents submitted by the Mayor and Council; however, some language may have been edited slightly for clarity purposes • Each bullet under an item is a comment from a separate person on the original language (i.e., bullets that say things like "yes" refer to the original language not the red bulleted comment that precedes it) • Several of the suggestions received from the Mayor and Council are potential action items that may be added to a future work plan rather than edits to the Vision and Goals. Council will be invited to call those out during the retreat on March 4th. The goal of the study session on January 30th is to come to a consensus on a new Vision and set of Goals. If this can be accomplished, the retreat will be used primarily to create a more specific work plan of action items for the next two years to help realize the new Vision and Goals. Attached is also a draft agenda for the retreat on March 3rd and March 4th. Any comments or feedback would be appreciated. Attachments: 1. Vision and Goals with suggested edits 2.
