The total duct leakage measurement was 124 CFM @-25 pascals. The target CFM measurement is 69 CFM. Using a smoke machine, it was determined that all of the additional leakage is coming through the furnace supply plenum where the evaporator coil will be located. Because the A/C is not yet connected, I feel that all of the existing leakage will be corrected once the A/C is finally connected. The equivalent orifice leakage area is a 3 inch by 3 inch hole. Once the A/C is connected, the duct system will likely meet the air tightness requirement of 4 CFM per 100 square feet of area served and be compliant with code.
