RESOLUTION NO. 43
SERIES OF 2025
TITLE: A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE CITY PLAN AS THE
WHEAT RIDGE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
WHEREAS, the City Council adopted the Envision Wheat Ridge comprehensive plan, upon the recommendation of the Planning Commission, as the city’s master plan in
2009; and
WHEREAS, C.R.S. §31-23-206(2) provides that the comprehensive plan may be
amended by the City from time to time; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to amend the comprehensive plan to provide guidance and direction for the city’s growth for the next 15 years; and
WHEREAS, the City Council directed staff and its consultants to prepare a new comprehensive plan; and
WHEREAS, City staff and the consultant team undertook extensive study and
extensive public engagement, holding public meetings, distributing information, and providing online opportunities for input with respect to the creation of a new
comprehensive plan; and
WHEREAS, such study and engagement has now been completed and a proposed
new Wheat Ridge comprehensive plan, called the City Plan, has now been prepared; and
WHEREAS, the draft City Plan was presented to the City Council for review; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Wheat Ridge, which is
authorized to make and adopt a master plan for the physical development of the city pursuant to CRS 31-23-206 and 31-23-208, voted 6-0 on August 21, 2025, to approve a
resolution recommending adoption of the City Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City Council held a public hearing on September 8, 2025, as provided by C.R.S. Section 31-23-208 and Section 2-60(b) of the Wheat Ridge Code of
Laws; legal notice of which was duly published in the Jeffco Transcript on August 28, 2025.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF CITY OF WHEAT
RIDGE, COLORADO THAT:
Section 1. The City Council hereby adopts the City Plan.
Section 2. The City Plan shall supersede Envision Wheat Ridge and be the city’s
comprehensive plan.
Section 3. The resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
