City ofYr-WheatRgge - PUBLIC WORKS Memorandum TO:Lauren Mikulak, Senior Planner FROM:Dave Brossman, Development Review Engineer DATE:March 18, 2019 SUBJECT:Plat Title Naming Convention Staff has inquired recently about the proper terminology to be used in the titling of subdivision and other types ofplats, and their subsequent filings and replats. So it may be appropriate for us to develop a standard guideIine for the use of certain terms. From purely a land surveying perspective, the following is the industry nomenclature and naming convention forplats: 1. "Second Filing" or "3rd Filing" should be used for subdivision o f land that is adjacent to the original subdivision, and not be used for subdivisions within the boundaries of the original subdivision. If only a portion of a previously platted area is to be replatted is should be given a new, unique title. Ifdesired, the title could include a portion of the original area title for tracking purposes. 2. "Replat" or "Resubdivision" should be used only when new lots are being created within the boundaries ofthe original subdivision by platting over the existing lots. 3. "Amended" should be used only for corrections to the original subdivision that are necessary, such as typographical or mathematical errors, improper or missing signatures, legal description corrections, etc. 4.
