MINUTES
September 2, 1969, the 4th Regular Meeting of the Wheat Ridge City
Council was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Mayor, Albert E. Anderson
at Fruitdale School.
Aldermen attending were: Ray C. Pepe, Robert P. Eckhardt, Calvin
Hulsey, Robert Howard and Dana Bowling. Also attending were: }Byor
Albert E. Anderson; Clerk, Louise Turner; and Treasurer, James
Malone; Representatives of the County Planning Dept., State Liquor
Dept., Arvada Chamber of Commerce, Telephone Company, Public Service
Company, and the Press and Wheat Ridge residents.
~~. Steve Schneringer, manager of the Arvada Chamber of Commerce,
introduced r~. Asa McNabb, Past President, and r~. Ron French or
the Broad of Directors. who on behalf of the Arvada Chamber of
Commerce, presented to ~ayor Albert E. Anderson an American Flag
and a Colorado Flag ror the Office of the new City of Wheat Ridge.
Alderman Robert Eckhardt presented to Mayor Anderson a gavel (hand
crafted) to be used in the conducting of Council meetings.
}~. Gary Latham introduced ror study by the Council 6 rezoning cases.
1st Case #B 6984 Application - William and Alice M. Riner and John
and }axine Tegal represented by Cal Bacon for a change
from A-I and R-2 to Planned Developement. Purpose to be
for apartments. Area is 7.5 acres. Area is at Kipling
near West 47th. Would contain 216 units. lVaximum height
35'. There is one exit into Kipling. Planning Commission
recommended approval. (Maps and papers and specifications
and/or information accompany this and other cases.)
2nd Case #B 69-100 Applicant. Helene Zarlingo. Request for change
from R-l to C-l for restaurant and shopette. Area is
.98 acres and is situated at 41st and Kipling. This
has not been heard by COQ~ty Planning Commission&et.
Motion was made by Alderman Eckhardt to continue both cases, B-
69-84 and B 69-100 until Thursday evening for a decision
at that time. Motion seconded by Alderman Howard; Carried.
Jrd Case #B 69-110 Rezoning request from A-l to R-3 for a purpose
not stated. Property is at 10852 W. 44th in the path of
the Foothills Freeway (proposed). Applicant is George
Michalo. Area is 5.0 acres. City of Arvada has recom-
mended denial.
Notion by AlderJl12.n Hulsey to continue to Thursday, seconded by
Alderman Bowling; Carried.
4th Case #69-114 ~qner, Roger Benjamin, represented by Frank
Calahan, 4725 Miller rrom A-I to Planned Development
for assorted usage including doubles and a commercial
woodworking business. Area is 8.78 acres.
Motion to continue until Thursday by Alderman Bowling, seconded
by Alderman Eckhardt; Carried.
5th Case #B 69-97 To go to the Commissioners Nonday. Planning
Commission and City of Arvada recommended approval.
Location is 7800 block on 1..[. 48th, 1.1 acres. Request is
for change rrom 1-1 to 1-2 for a meat packaging plant.
Applicants are Wayne Brunger and James Jaap. Zoning
requested ,'fould 8,11m'T undesirable uses such as slaughter
house.

6th Case #B 69-109 1.43 acres e.t 47th Ave. and Independence to
Holland. Request is for change from R-2 to R-3 for
income t01mhouses. Arvada reccommends denial.
Eotion to continue until Thursday by AlderJl13,n Eckhardt. 2nd
by Alderman Hulsey.
A report was given by !"Jr. Chelton of the State Liquor Board. He
explained that the City has co-existant li~nsing with the state
and that J-l'my licensins; is renewed by January first of each year
and 3.2 lic/t!nsing is due for renew8,1 one year from the date of
issue.
f~. Zarle~~o clarified that the City can renew rather than issue
licenses issued by.the County.
I~. Zarlengo announced that the Telephone Company Occupational
Tax Ordinancd would have to be redrafted and sent out ror
Thursday.
I~otion that the meeting be continued on Thursday at 7:30 PI,; in
the City Office, was made seconded and carried at 10:40 PI"!.
