November 10, 1969 Alderman Bramble reported on a meeting held earlier in the day with the City Attorney, County Attorney, County Commissioners and County Manager. A contract setting up a program under which the Sheriff's office would provide protection for the City of Wheat Ridge, which had been pre- sented to the County Commissioners, was denied on the basis of an opinion by the County Attorney that it was not legal under state law because there were no provisions for such action. After some discussion, the opinion was given that the City could "enter into an agreement" with the Sheriff without involving the County Commissioners because there is no provision in the statutes prohibiting such action. Alderman Bramble expressed optimism that a basis of procedure had been established and stated that with the approval of the council he and Attorney Fox would mOdify the proposal for presentation to the Sheri ff.
