A continuation of the November 10th regular meeting of the Wheat Ridge
City Council was called to order by Mayor Albert E. Anderson at 7:30
at the Wheat Ridge City Office, 7390 West 38th Avenue.
Aldermen attending were: Ray Pepe, Robert Eckhardt, Robert Howard,
Dana Bowling and Jack Bramble.
Also attending were Mayor Anderson, Clerk Louise Turner, Treasurer
James Malone, City Attorney Maurice Fox, Leo Bradley, attorney repre-
senting an applicant for a 3.2 Beer License at Safeway, 5353 West 38th
and interested citizens.
Mayor Anderson reported on a meeting with Mr. Haose on November 12
regarding a TOPICS Program for signal lights for which 50,000 had been
reported to be available. Actually a larger amount has been designated
for areas on the major streets and highways between lOth and 44th,
Sheridan and Youngfield. There will be another meeting following one
with Lakewood.
Alderman Bowling reported the committee negotiating with Public Service
met with Mr. Elbridge Burnham and will receive from Mr. Burnham a
written report on municipal ownership. A meeting is scheduled with
Public Service officials who are now aware of what the city feels is
necessary and desirable in a franchise and a proposal will be presented.
A hearing for an application for a 3.2 Beer License for Safeway at
5353 West 38th Avenue was held and a separate report has been written.
Upon conclusion of the hearing a Motion was made by Alderman Pepe nthat
the matter be taken under advisement until Tuesday, November 18 and that
a decision be given on that date at 7:30 p.m. Motion was seconded by
Alderman Bowling and passed 5-0.
Ordinance #14 pertaining to street cuts was brought up for discussion.
Alderman Eckhardt recommended that the introduction of Ordinance #14
be put on the agenda for November 18.
It was decided that Ordinance #15 which establishes a Board of Adjustment
be discussed and amended before introduction. Ordinance #15 will be
introduced on November 14.
There was considerable discussion of the fees which may be outlines in
Ordinance #13 which, if adopted, will impose an occupational tax on
liquor, wine and beer.
At 12:00 p.m. the meeting was declared continued to Friday, November 14
at 7:30 p.m.
