MINUTES
November 15, 1959
The third continuation of the November 10 meeting was called to order
at 3:00 p.m. and declared open for comments.
James S. Stone, 3445 Garland Street, read a prepared statement (which
is on file) pertaining to the building code needs of Wheat Ridge. He
introduced several people:
Mr. Henry Baume, an architect, stressed the ease of amending the
Metro Code.
Shirley Huntsman of Public Service Company, approved of the Metro
Code and felt it would be beneficial to have one code for the entire
area.
Sue Schneider of the Englewood Building Department presented the
Englewood Code to the Council for future reference.
Chief Robert Kirk of Prospect Valley Fire Department, stated pre-
ference for NFPA over UBC because it is more strict on commercial
restrictions.
Mayor Anderson said Council is aware of that preference and that the
same is true of Wheat Ridge Fire Department but had not yet been able
to get a copy of NFPA, but would work toward adopting NFPA to replace
this fire code now being adopted.
Motion was made by Alderman Pepe and seconded by Alderman Howard that
Ordinance #10 be read. Motion passed 5-0. Alderman Bowling was absent.
The title was read by the clerk and the reading of the remainder of
the Ordinance was dispensed with on a Motion by Alderman Pepe, which
was seconded by Alderman Howard and passed 5-0.
Mr. Eckhardt stated that one of the first jobs of the building depart-
ment would be to examine closely the metro code.
Motion was made by Alderman Pepe "that ordinance #10 be approved on
second and final reading and adopted." Motion was seconded by Alderman
Hulsey and passed 5-0. Alderman Bowling was absent.
Motion "That Ordinance #10 be published in the Arvada Citizen and posted
in six public places" was made by Alderman Pepe and seconded by Alderman
Eckhardt and passed 5-0.
Meeting was adjourned at 4:30 p.m.
